They discuss their previous difficulties with housing in various cities in the U.S., recounting stressful experiences with landlords and challenging neighborhoods. Moving to their current location in Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico, Sharmane highlights the importance of partnering up with a recommended local to help navigate the process. With the guidance of a licensed real estate agent, they successfully secure a new house in a suburb of Mérida.
Shae & Sharmane discuss the intricacies of rental and lease agreements in Mexico. Maney shares their concerns about their responsibilities as a foreigner signing a lease and shares the comfort of having the help of a translator in the room. They discuss the penalties of early termination and the return of the deposit, highlighting the differences from the lease signing process in the United States.
