    Members' Q&A part 2 - Ugly cars, Benetton-Ford in '95 and V10 era misconceptions

For our next instalment of Bring Back V10s members' questions, Glenn Freeman is joined by Ben Anderson and Matt Beer. Subjects tackled this time include Juan Pablo Montoya racing for Williams in 1999 instead of Alex Zanardi, how Michael Schumacher's 1995 season would have gone with Ford power instead of Renault, what would have happened to David Coulthard without his 1994 Williams call-up, Ferrari's weird 'F1 logo' livery at Spa in 1999, and what we think are common misconceptions about the V10 era.

As a listener to Bring Back V10s, we know you enjoy your F1 history, so we thought you'd like to hear about The Race's new podcast, which delves into other areas of motor racing history.
On this very special crossover episode of Bring Back V10s, Glenn Freeman chats to Matt Bishop and Richard Williams - the hosts of And Colossally That's History! - about their new podcast and what listeners can expect.
Glenn then introduces a section of the first episode, which is about Brawn GP and some of the unintended consequences of their F1 fairy tale. It's full of interesting details and behind-the-scenes information (Matt was working for McLaren at the time!), so we hope it's a topic that will appeal to BBV10s fans, even if it does stray into the V8 era!
If you enjoy this chat with Matt and Richard (and the excerpt of the podcast) please do search for And Colossally That’s History in your podcast app of choice and like, follow or subscribe to the feed so that you can listen to the rest of the Brawn episode and ensure that you get each episode of the podcast delivered to you as soon as they're are released.

BBV10s Book Special: Zanardi on his Williams misery

In a members-exclusive follow-up to our Alex Zanardi 1999 episode from series 9, Glenn Freeman and Matt Beer revisit the chapter of Zanardi's 2004 book, My Story, that focused on his doomed F1 season with Williams. While you heard snippets from that book in the full episode, here we read through the chapter in its entirety - plus part of the late-1998 chapter that precedes it - stopping off along the way to ponder Alex's side of the story in more depth.

Another series of Bring Back V10s is over, but all that means is it’s time for us to get stuck in with lots of exclusive episodes for The Race Members’ Club! We’re kicking things off with the first of THREE members-only ask us anything shows, and for this one Glenn Freeman is joined by Mark Hughes and Andrew Van de Burgt.

They discuss F1’s decision to get rid of V10s, what would have happened if Nigel Mansell had stayed with Williams instead of going to Ferrari for two years, and a surprising number of questions covering the career of Alain Prost!

Addictive listening

Love the show lads, totally hooked since I discovered it. The V10 era is when I fell in love with F1 so brings back great memories. Me and my son wear our bring back V10 t-shirts with pride! Kevin Troy

My question is... Can you tell us more about the time Michael Schumacher tested a Sauber. 1997 I think?

Awesome show- Canada 1998 Suggestion

Hi guys, love the podcast. Happy that the 1998 season finally got an episode, it was my first season watching f1. I always thought Canada 98 deserved an episode, but if not here's my question:

If Jacques Villeneuve hadn't outbraked himself at the first turn trying to pass Fisichella after the safety car, do you think he would have won the race? Given Schumacher only narrowly came out ahead of Fisi after Schumachers second pitstop.

On Canada 98 deserving an episode :
1. Extraordinary pace from Schumi after his stop go penalty, and the incident with Frentzen itself
2. Two massive accidents at the starts
3. Jordan qualifying 5th (Ralf) and Damon Hill running 2nd before a car failure
4. Irvine coming from near the back after lap 1 to 3rd
5. The Villeneuve question above
6. Diniz spreading chunks of grass all over the track
7. Barrichello showing serious pace in the Stewart Ford early on before an off.
8. Need I go on? That's a lot of reasons :)

Cheers,
Joe

Bring back V10’s is epic!

Love these classic V10 era stories. The insights from Ed , Glenn, Mark Hughes and the likes of Gary Anderson are absolutely brilliant. Especially all the possible alternate universe possibilities!
I actually do an occasional race in BOSSGP racing against some of these F1 V10 cars and they are still fantastic to see and hear these days.
Keep up the good work, thanks a million guys.
