I knew I had to kick off a conversation around this with Lorraine Lee, a LinkedIn Learning Instructor and consultant who spends all day every day helping teams show up well online and in person. We covered everything from social media etiquette to what skills early professionals should be focusing on. We covered a wide range of live questions from how your network is a reflection of you to what exactly “recommendations” are on LinkedIn & how you should be utilizing them. If you had to guess what brought in MORE opportunities between being featured on Shark Tank and Live Streaming for 4 years what would it be? It’s a hard guess! Lucky for you, that’s been my life and I can safely say going Live on LinkedIn has brought me more opportunities than my Shark Tank episode. After getting asked “why do you go live?” and “how do you do it?” I thought it would be fun to bring my producer, Shelby, to answer frequently asked questions about the show. We covered everything from how to get started, tips for when things go wrong and shared experiences and opportunities that have come our way because of the show. How do we use ChatGPT when it comes to work? What if you’ve never tried it before? How do you even know where to start!? I’ve found myself getting comfortable using ChatGPT for personal tasks (helping me with vacation planning or translating into Spanish!) but when it comes to work I’m not sure how to fit it in…until now. My conversation with Jake showed me not only how to leverage AI for important meetings and internal trainings but as a key brainstorming partner. We dug into why he feels prompts won’t be relevant in the next 1-2 years and why the ChatGPT Upgrade is a must (spoiler alert I upgraded my plan after our talk!). If you aren’t thinking much before hitting “send” on your emails, I hate to break it to you but you may be unintentionally causing frustration at work. The live comments on this week's episode were booming. People are passionate about the way they receive emails and if you don’t have a solid email strategy you may be creating stress without even knowing it. Our guest Daisy Lovelace shared some solid advice around email subject lines, how to craft an email so people actually read it, and what to avoid when using features like bcc, attachments and emojis. I know email isn’t the most exciting part of our day but if we clear up our inboxes I think you’d be surprised how much time you’ll create for the work that matters.

I loath confrontation. I run from it. In fact, I will have 5,000 conversations in my head before I ever actually confront someone with an issue that’s bothering me. This is how I found myself watching Lisa Gates’ LinkedIn Learning course all about how to have healthy confrontation at work! During our chat she shared that avoidance is quite common and gave step-by-step tips for how to kick off a hard conversation, how to speak up when find yourself being talked over in meetings and how to tackle a boss who says one thing (you’re getting a raise!) but then not delivering (no raise in sight!). Her go to’s for de-escalating conversations was exactly what I needed to hear about!
