Superficial and shoddy research

Honestly, it’s very hard to listen to entitled people who don’t actually understand their topics discussing things without bothering to do their research. Hard pass.

Disappointing Waste of Time

I really wanted to like this podcast.

I had a look at their topics - all of them seemed really interesting, I couldn’t wait to sit down and listen to an episode or two.

About 40 mins into the episode about COINTELPRO I just had to stop. I genuinely couldn’t listen anymore. I actually unsubscribed right afterwards. The podcast was like they gathered all the things that make a podcast bad and used it as a framework.

- Too much off topic conversations. I’m all for banter and the conversational approach but the podcast makes you feel like your on the bus just listening in on people talk between themselves. Way too many in jokes and drawn out laughter over nothing. I had to skip ahead several times to actually hear some of the topic of the episode.

- The general tone of the hosts comes across as smug and almost dismissive. Couple this with all the off topic chatter and it’s like “why are you doing a podcast if you actually don’t care about it?”

- Vocal fry. Male, female, everyone: vocal fry sounds bad. I can understand it’s unavoidable in a long episode because people get tired, but here, it is just too grating.

Anyway, the show looked like it had great potential. The topics look excellent. Maybe get some new hosts that actually want to talk to their audience and not just each other.
