    Ray Tran is the son of immigrant parents and is a financial literacy teacher, wealth/real estate coach, and real estate investor residing in Brooklyn, NY.   After graduating with a degree in Financial Economics, Ray began working at Ernst & Young. Despite his initial enthusiasm, he soon realized that the corporate world did not fulfill him so he quit his corporate job after realizing his true passion was to teach/educate others. 

    Ray's life was thrown a major curveball when his father passed away shortly after he graduated from college. Ray saw his father dream of what  retirement would be like when he'd  get to his 60's but never had the change to enjoy it before passing.  Ray is now the founder of RT Invests where he provides wealth coaching/mentoring to students and adults of all ages. His ultimate aim is to inspire others to break free from the rat race and generate income through asset ownership and passive income streams.

    After HS, Reese joined  the military and learned about retirement planning on accident in Korea. He is now 34 with a net worth of roughly 950k and has taken zero loans to buy anything besides mortgages. Reese made all the silly mistakes as a new teacher such as opening a 403b with Equitable but learned from being burned. From then, he made finances his passion. 

    Reese and his wife and alternated their educational pursuits leading to her just finishing her doctorate and Reese working to finish his masters. Reese sayings staying out of debt is a must for middle income earners. In his experiences working with nurses, teachers, military members and many more, the biggest issue being 2 things: Cars and eating out. Life is challenging and to short, but with the right plan and mindset, it can absolutely be rewarding and prosperous.

    Jason and his wife have two young children and are both teachers in Mississippi. Jason has become an expert in the area of benefits and the pension in his home state.  He is now sharing his passion for understanding these benefits will all teachers in his state. Although he knows he could be making more money in the private sector, he says that all of the benefits of teaching, especially early retirement, are way too much to give up.  Jason and his wife both plan on retiring before 50!

    Tiffany began as a teacher in GA and was married to a teacher for over 15 years. However, they could never get on the same page in regards to their money. However, as she went through a divorce, Tiffany has been able to improve her financial situation and learn more about finances. Increasing her knowledge has become important of her long-term goals. In order to learn, she went back to school to become a CFP.  Currently, she is working to help other educators, in particular school nutrition professionals (operations' staff)  to become financially literate. Some key important steps for Tiffany has been making career moves to strategically increase her income in order to maximize her GA pension.

    Is the grass really greener on the other side? Many teachers are filing for the exits to leave education but Nancy did the opposite.  Nancy spent  in the private many years sector in HR before moving into her role as a Career and Technology teacher in NC. 

    What are the pros and cons of each? Many teachers (myself) only know education...K-12 to college and then right into the classroom. 

    Only a few years away from retirement, Nancy is continuing to learn about personal finance and how to maximize her situation as a single income earning teacher.
