Gratitude, Being vs. Doing, and Staying Present - Hippie sh!t - Episode 7

Gratitude, Being vs. Doing, and Staying Present - Hippie sh!t - Episode 7

In today's episode of Hippie Sh!t, we're going to dig into the esoteric and discuss gratitude, the idea of being vs. doing, and how to stay present. I firmly believe these three topics are interconnected and that each can be a practice that leads to the others naturally over time.

Keeping a gratitude journal is a really common recommendation from people both within the field of psychology and from people in spiritual communities. Gratitude journaling has been shown to provide people with better overall senses of well-being and better moods if kept consistently, so this is a great practice to incorporate into your daily routine.

However, gratitude journaling is an example of doing gratitude - taking the time to journal for the results it can provide to you, rather than for the sake of the act itself or for the gratitude itself. Over time, I believe we can shift into a better, more consistent mental state by shifting toward a mentality of being grateful - honoring and loving what comes to us in each moment, rather than carving a chunk of time out of our days to 'do gratitude' and then return to our normal states.

Finally, we'll talk about staying present, and how the choice to be sincerely grateful and practice gratitude for the moment is an automatic shift into mindfulness and presence, resulting in the powerful changes that come with mindfulness practice overall.

Failure, Success, and Accountability - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 6

Failure, Success, and Accountability - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 6

In today's episode of the Hippie Sh!t Podcast, we're going to unpack the topics of failure and failing to reach your goals, success, and accountability - specifically having an accountability partner, holding yourself accountable, and why those two ideas don't always work particularly well when figuring out how to motivate yourself and how to reach your goals. If you've found yourself wondering, "Why can't I do anything right?" this episode is for you.

When it comes to following through on your goals, it's important to maintain an understanding that changes take time, that we need to be patient with ourselves in the process of change, and that at times, what we think we want is not truly what we want - or what will be best for us. Further, it's important to give our self-concept time to catch up to our behaviors. Our self-image often works against us, so giving ourselves space to navigate our new lives and new habits is important to long-term, sustainable change.

Hippie Shit is a podcast about self-development and spirituality. Here, we navigate improving our situations through the use of spiritual principles from multiple paths along with research-backed psychological concepts.

    Intuitive Goal Setting - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 5

    Intuitive Goal Setting - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 5

In today's episode of the Hippie Sh!t Podcast, we'll talk about intuitive goal setting, the problem with setting goals, why goal setting doesn't work, and ways to shift your mindset to help you when setting, making progress toward, and actually reaching your goals.

As a side note, today's examples focus on weight loss goals and addressing self image and negative body image, so it may be slightly triggering for people currently experiencing dysmorphia. If you find the subject of weight loss triggering, I ask you to stay tuned for the next episode.

Hippie Sh!t is a podcast and YouTube channel that focuses on the areas of self-improvement and spirituality. There is an emphasis on psychology, particularly shadow work, deconstructing and working with the ego, and using acceptance to bring constructive change.

How are your new year's resolutions going? If you've already lost your progress, have you considered why new year's resolutions don't work for you? Are you having trouble reaching your goals? In today's episode, we'll talk about rewriting goals intuitively - in a way that feels good, supportive, genuine, and exciting, rather than in a way that sets us up for automatic failure. If you're having trouble sticking to goals, perhaps this is the episode for you.

Surprisingly enough, it probably has nothing to do with laziness or a lack of motivation, and it probably won't be addressed by setting SMART goals.

How to Find Yourself - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 3

How to Find Yourself - Hippie Sh!t - Episode 3

Let's talk about how to find yourself. In today's episode, we'll discuss in depth the different voices in your head - your inner child or id, ego, and critical parent or superego - and how to differentiate them from your true self and your heart. What is the inner voice? What is an inner monologue? How can you tell which part of you is doing the talking? How do you work with your subconscious instead of fighting against it?

We'll also discuss how to tell whether you're coming from love or from fear, and how to tell when someone is interacting with you based on ego or based on their truth. We'll also cover some brief information about working with your subconscious rather than letting it run your life.

    - how to stop judging your thoughts

    - how to stop judging and criticizing

    - how to stop judging other people
