In reality, up to 46 percent of cyber breaches affect businesses with fewer than a thousand employees, making them attractive targets due to weaker defenses. Medium-sized enterprises, with 100 to 1,000 employees and revenue ranging from 10 million to hundreds of millions, form another category, while large enterprises, with over 1,000 employees and substantial revenue, represent the top tier.
Cybercriminals are well aware of these distinctions, targeting businesses accordingly to maximize ransomware payments. Smaller businesses often lack dedicated security staff, making third-party cybersecurity vendors a practical choice to manage the growing influx of security alerts. The demand for qualified cybersecurity personnel remains high, with a shortage of skilled professionals due to the evolving nature of the field and an influx of open positions globally. This discussion aims to shed light on the cybersecurity landscape for businesses of different sizes, debunk misconceptions, and explore strategies to safeguard organizations of all sizes.
