Episode 4: How To Make Massive Impact As A Social Entrepreneur with Vikas Garg

Episode 4: How To Make Massive Impact As A Social Entrepreneur with Vikas Garg

Today I am chatting with Vikas Garg, who is the Founder & CEO of abillion, a rapidly growing global internet platform on a mission to help a billion people live plant-based by 2030.

Abillion aims to change the way people eat and consume whether it be food or fashion or material objects in their lives. Their app not only helps people find plant-based food but also makes a real difference in the availability of that food, as abillion also seeks to encourage restaurants and hotels to become more plant-based. Think: TripAdvisor meets Instagram but for vegans and vegetarians.

In 2017, Vikas left his high-flying corporate career at one of the world's largest hedgefunds to pursue this venture as he felt he could do more for society and realised that the world did not need another fund manager, but it needed people to solve interesting problems — and he has not looked back since.

Abillion is one of the most well-funded start ups in the Asia Impact scene, closing a pre-Series-A $3 million round in 2020 and attracting high-profile investors like Room To Read’s John Wood.

Vikas has received Credit Suisse’s Global Citizenship Award, is a Young Leader of the Milken Institute, and a Charter Member of The IndUS Entrepreneurs.

By the end of this interview, you will gain insight into how to think like a non-profit, you will have an understanding of how to build a sustainable business with a socially-driven mission, and you will feel that you too can build a business that will leave a truly positive mark on the world.

In this episode, you will learn about:

    Why the future is plant-based
How to use consumer data for good
The power of a mission in driving company growth
How to create a sustainable financial model as a social entrepreneur
How to pitch your business to investors (and succeed)
The Dalai Lama's trick to help you be happier throughout your day
    And so much more...
