Few fandoms can even be compared with that of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series. The fandom is full of creative greats supplying essays, videos, podcasts and more. On the Isle of Faces, I turn the camera, or mic rather, back on them, and take the opportunity to highlight who these Fandom Greats are as people, and how they came to ASOIAF in the first place

Cersei's reign is here in full swing. And it is DAMN HILARIOUS. King's Landing empties, allies and swords are all but gone, the Small Council is at its smallest, and Cersei thinks its all fantastic. Today we have Cersei's happiest chapter of the book, Jaime realising his sister is becoming like someone else he once knew, while Asha makes a much-ignored great pitch prior to the Kingsmoot and Sam makes big, terrible discoveries on his own ship
    Today we have:
    - Sam II
    - Jaime II
    - Cersei IV
    - Victarion I/ The Iron Captain
Jump onto the Isle to discuss the strength of Gilly and the growth of Sam, the sheer maths of the King's Landing losses, how nothing is ever Cersei's problem, and a lot of talk about Asha even when we're in Victarion's POV

On today's visit to the Isle of Faces we change it up by reopening the Dorne and Iron Islands plots while also staying consistent with a Cersei and a Brienne, because it is law we must have those two in every episode from now on. We get our lone Asha, our lone Arys, a wedding where NO ONE DIES (what????), and Brienne makes it to Maidenpool to meet with one fine Dick.
    Today we have:
    - Asha/ The Kraken's Daughter
    - Cersei III
    - Arys/ The Soiled Knight
    - Brienne III
Come across to the Isle for an in-depth discussion on Feast being the most female-driven ASOIAF book, why Asha (and her uncle) (and her uncle's castle) are the best of the Ironborn, Cersei-Aerys vibes, and our true intro to Arianne and the Myrcella plot

Can it be true? Are we really a quarter of a way into Feast already? Apparently so, so we'd best get down to business. Today we get our real introduction to Cersei's hilarious rule, Brienne visits Duskendale to learn about the remnants of battles, Jaime and his guilt open up to us even while he improves upon every marker, and we get one of our so-very-rare Sansa chapters as Petyr Baelish shows off his A-game (annoyingly)
    Today we have:
    - Cersei II
    - Jaime I
    - Brienne II
    - Sansa I
Jump aboard the Isle for chit chat about poor, poor Tommen, Varys knowing secrets about Jaqen, what could have been upon the Trident, memories of Roose Bolton's evil, and how Sansa- somehow- maintains her sense of self even while witnessing Littlefinger's skill. Oh, and we get a truly emotional Brienne moment that proves she's the best person in Westeros. You can expect one of those per week, if I'm honest

Now we're back into the swing of things we finally find some normality in this oh-so-strange book. We have our lone glimpse of the Wall with Sam, begin the most noble of quests with Brienne, make the most of a rare Arya chapter, and we begin the doozy, the fave of every ASOIAF fan: Cersei's rule in King's Landing
    Today's chapters are:
    - Cersei I
    - Brienne I
    - Sam I
    - Arya I
Hop aboard the Isle for some chat on what Arya on the Wall would have looked like, Braavos in general, the many dangers of the open road, the amazing and uncelebrated strength and brilliance of Gilly, plus we get the party poppers out for our goodbye to Tywin. All that, and simple mourning at how little Arya we get in this book...

    THE ISLE RETURNETH!
After a long ole break we welcome you back to the Isle for the opening of a brand new book, with brand new themes, settings, characters, and structuring. Truly, we are in uncharted territory now. To break us in I go through a mini-review of the different POV arcs before breaking into the world of Oldtown and the Citadel, the four krakens grasping in Balon's wake, and the meeting of the Sand Snakes down on the dunes of Dorne.
    Today we go through:
    -Pate
    - Aeron I (The Prophet)
    - Areo I (The Captain of the Guards)
Jump aboard the Isle for an examination of these two new areas of focus, the possible future arcs of Areo, the patterns of the prologues, and just how much stuff we still don't have answers for...not that that's going to stop us guessing.
Welcome back, fine friends. Pull up a log, won't you?
