Ep. 34 - What it means to sell behind the scenes and HOW to do it

Ep. 34 - What it means to sell behind the scenes and HOW to do it

What it means to "sell behind the scenes"

Selling behind the scenes is something you hear a lot of coaches throw around - but they rarely tell you what they mean or how it's done! Honestly until I figured it out - I thought they were saying that as a way to inflate numbers (lol - I swear I'm not a cynical person!)

So - what is selling behind the scenes? Selling behind the scenes is most simply put - when you sell or make offers in a way that isn't necessarily public facing. Meaning you aren't posting a promotion, or emailing your entire list about an offer. You're making private offers!

Now you're probably wondering how this is done. There are a ton of ways that you can sell behind the scenes. I outlined three on Stories and I'm going to share three with you here too!

Selling in the DMs: You probably saw this coming from me! I talk a lot about DM sales because I wholeheartedly believe it changes lives and businesses. In this particular context, it means making offers privately in the DMs.

So that could be special invites to your upcoming program, pitching to your dream client, or making some sort of a special offer to Close Friends.

Close Friends List: Speaking of Close Friends - Close Friends is a feature on IG that allows you to add a group of people to see exclusive Stories content from you! You can 'launch' to this private list by doing Instagram Stories that only they see! This is a fab way to collect your hottest leads too! throughout the promo period, you'd be touching base with them via DM to find out how they are liking the training, what questions they have, and if they're ready to move forward.

Upselling current customers: Your current customers are your ✨hottest leads✨! Think about what you can offer them to either make their experience better or help them get the transformation they're after even faster. An example of this is if you're a social media manager - offer support with Reels or to write their email content as well for an additional fee. Another example is if you're a coach that normally offers group coaching, offer an additional private call for an additional fee.

What you want to make sure when you're upselling is that your customer is already happy with your work AND that your offer is rooted in getting them a faster, deeper, or higher result!

Other ways you can sell behind the scenes:

Selling to a segment of your email list
    Creating a new waitlist
    Promoting an on-demand webinar
    Sharing testimonials
Making an offer to program 'graduates' allowing them to continue on with you
Building a new offer and beta selling it
