Melissa has 6 adult children with her partner Glen. She lives in Kingscliff on the Tweed Coast after growing up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney for most of her life.

Melissa was adopted at the age of 17 months into a large family and had 8 siblings. She was re-United with her birth mother and siblings at the age of 21 and at 35 met all of her siblings after the tv show Find My Family re-United them.

After her adopted parents divorced life was full of challenges. She frequently moved towns and schools, attending 6 different schools Melissa learned to adapt to change without notice. In her young life between 9-14 she was traumatised by sexual abuse and then spent the next 4 years taking her perpetrators to court.

At 16 she found herself living in a Sydney City Mission Youth Refuge where she completed her final year of high school. After marrying at 22 and having 3 children with special needs she found herself a single mum. Melissa left her marriage and moved away with her children aged 4,5 and 7 to start a new life. Today she has a partner who loves, respects and supports her and runs her own business. Melissa is a master at reinventing herself and starting over with a positive attitude. She sees the gift in every adversity.
