5: LA Romance, Oscars Review, Too Many Emoji, Cameo

Got primary season hangover already? Don't worry, we've got you, fam.
What happened while we were on break? Caucuses, acquittals, and viruses, oh my!
While we've been off, Andrew has had a brief love affair with LA, Laura has delayed filing her taxes (fight the power), and Pam learned some of the legalities behind scattering human remains in public.
The Oscars can't seem to stop its bleeding viewership problem, but this year represented a few positive shifts: the first time a foreign language film won Best Picture (Parasite), first time a female conductor led the Best Score ensemble, and the films that were expected to "win big" didn't take home as many awards as anticipated.
Iowa: WTF happened, and why do we still place so much emphasis on it?
With Sanders and Buttigieg getting so much press, are we looking at our two frontrunners?
The Unicode Consortium has finished 62 new emoji (https://www.macrumors.com/2020/01/29/new-emojis-coming-in-2020/) that will roll out later this year. We're excited about the trans flag, crying while smiling, and disguised faces, and less so about the flatbread and the rock (wtf?).
Speaking of WTF, check out some of the celebrity offerings on Cameo (https://www.cameo.com/) . We browse (and gasp) at the prices people are willing to pay for a 60 second video from B-list celebs.
A confessional from a listener in an interracial relationship prompts a discussion about what it's like to be in any kind of non-homogenous relationship in the current political climate.
This week's recommendations should thaw your heart and soul: Funko Hollywood (Andrew), Ivy's Tea (https://ivystea.com/) (Laura), and 'The Good Place' (Pam).

And in this week's installment of After Dark, this week available to all Patrons:
We attempt to Surprise Bitch! listener Kody, and get Surprise Bitched! in return.
In the wake of Kobe Bryant's death and new developments in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard saga, we revisit the topic of cancel culture.
When is it appropriate to cancel someone? When does cancel culture do more harm than good?
Andrew gets a surprise invitation from a prominent LA comedian.

5: Variety Show: Endorsing a Candidate for President

Andrew, Laura, and Pam take a test (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/policy-2020/quiz-which-candidate-agrees-with-me/?gclid=CjwKCAiA1L_xBRA2EiwAgcLKA4HUx-Aj8htjsJ3_er9BZG0dMcarwv2coVwAtmrJ10klVeZZdX9dyRoCAgwQAvD_BwE&utm_campaign=traffic&utm_keyword=&utm_medium=search&utm_source=google) to determine which candidate we're REALLY for, based on where we stand on the various issues. By the end we come to a decision on who is getting our endorsement!
This edition of the new #Millennial Variety Show is being released to the public since it's our first of the year, and we're making a very big decision! 4: Iowa Caucus Bets, Hunger Games Prequel's Big Reveal, Breaking Sad

4: Iowa Caucus Bets, Hunger Games Prequel's Big Reveal, Breaking Sad

Andrew's on a Breaking Bad tour across the Southwestern US, and #Millennial is here to stop him from adopting a meth habit!
Basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and several others were tragically killed in a freak helicopter crash over the weekend. The panel shares why even non-sport fans are so affected.
We predict who the winners of the upcoming Iowa caucus will be, and talk about why no one really knows how this will go.
Move over JKR: Suzanne Collins is giving us an origin story... about the Hunger Games trilogy's most reviled villain.
The people have spoken: reusing gym clothes is GROSS. (Laura's still gonna do it though.)
What was it like to grow up during the Bush-era abstinence-only sex education push?
Our BAEs have some great questions for us this week: Which movie could we watch back to back? What do we wish we'd done differently when preparing to move in with our partners? How to battle jetlag?
Impeachment is turning out to be less of a dud than the GOP hoped for, and we're here for it.
This week's recommendations start out disturbing and end pretty wholesome: Polluting the planet (WTF Andrew), Pravanna hair color (Laura), and Anthony Padilla's "I Spent A Day With" series (Pam).

Our latest takes on online behavior. If you're a dick online, are you prepared for the consequences?
Should Facebook groups be considered safe spaces compared to the wild west of the internet?
Why is JK Rowling surprised people are doubting her intentions nowadays? Should she clarify her position?

3: Side Hustle Success Tips, Micah Chairs, Wearing Dirty Clothes

It's about to be a long week with the Senate's impeachment trial, but #Millennial is here to give you a reprieve from politics-heavy news!
Micah joins us after a long hiatus (3 years, nbd) from the show. He brings his sick burns and a strong desire to let the world know how he feels about Trump.
In an exciting twist, Micah reviews the various Micah Chairs that've been posted to the Facebook Group over the past few years. Don't worry: We explain what the hell a Micah Chair is. (See them on our Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/millennialshow) )
After last week's sustainability discussion, we check in: how are we doing, and what non-earth friendly products have we ditched? (Here are the towels Andrew ordered (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071L1H6H4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) .)
According to Experian (https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/50-of-millennials-have-a-side-hustle/) , 50% of millennials have a side hustle. We share our experience of getting involved in a passion project that later became a side hustle.
Some quick tips for side hustlers: take advantage of Upwork (https://www.upwork.com/) and TaskRabbit (https://www.taskrabbit.com/) , beware of taxes, and consider how your side hustle can add to your resume.
There's no common thread in this week's recommendations: HBO's "The Outsider" (Laura), ice balls (Andrew), Netflix's "The Circle" (Pam), reversible gym shorts (Micah).
This week's show is sponsored by Fi (https://www.tryfi.com and enter promo code mill for $50 off) and LoveBook (https://www.lovebookonline.com/mill to receive a 20% discount on a Love Book). Support #Millennial by supporting our sponsors!
And in this week's installment of After Dark, available exclusively on Patreon:
Pea(cock) block? NBC joins the streaming fray with the promise of... early, late-night television? Wat?
HBO Max will also be here before too long, prompting the question... are we at our streaming limit yet?
Andrew shares his most recent edible experience, and Laura commiserates by sharing an old stoner horror story of her own.
Pam got propositioned while walking down the street. We're not kidding.

2: Sustainability Challenge, Best Ways to Cope With 2020, Royal Drama

2: Sustainability Challenge, Best Ways to Cope With 2020, Royal Drama

2020 already feeling 20 years long? #Millennial is back this week with some advice about staying vigilant and staying sane.
Think you’re using safe passwords? Use Google’s Password Checkup (https://www.howtogeek.com/448050/how-to-use-google-password-checkup/) to see if your passwords have been exposed in data breaches.
As the Democratic field narrows, Laura still vows to only care starting on Super Tuesday.
Since sustainability is such a hot topic these days, we examine our own sustainability practices (or lack thereof).
We all commit to at least one change we’ll make for sustainability’s sake, and admit to a few non-sustainable practices we’re guilty of.
Since sustainability comes with a high price tag in many cases, we cover some affordable sustainable practices.
In the last week we’ve backed off of open conflict with Iran, fabricated an intelligence story, announced that impeachment articles are headed to the Senate, and overstated the reach of executive powers. How are you feeling about American democracy?
We’ve got some recommendations about how involved to get with the news surrounding federal elections, and where to focus that excess attention.
Across the pond, the people making the British Royal Family hip and interesting are… moving to sit at a cooler table.
Get ready to snuggle up with our latest recommendations: “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” (Andrew), Netflix’s “Dracula” (Laura), and the ‘Call Me by Your Name’ audiobook (Pam).

Millennials are still having less sex (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-single/201811/7-reasons-why-young-people-are-having-less-sex) , but we’re also getting more STDs (https://www.wsj.com/articles/public-health-puzzle-young-people-having-less-sex-contracting-more-stds-11571391000) . Wtf?
We share our safe sex practices, and come clean about when we haven’t been so clean.
How does online dating simultaneously make obtaining sex easier, but personing harder?
Surprise Bitch! victim Kait gets to have a probing conversation with us about millennial sex trends.

1: New Year New Us, If War Is Imminent, Golden Globes, Rise of Skywalker

1: New Year New Us, If War Is Imminent, Golden Globes, Rise of Skywalker

Welcome back to #Millennial, where the adulting is pretend and the talk is real!
Is that a new theme song we hear? And a new tagline? We've been hard at work putting together some fun changes for our 6th season, and we can't wait to share them.
Speaking of being hard at work during the winter holidays, the President opened the world up to a US-Iran military conflict, and climate change deniers are literally down to let the world burn.
We react to Trump's airstrike against Qassem Soleimani and discuss how this may further complicate the 2020 election. Somehow Laura keeps calling Soleimani "salami."
As the 9/11 generation, we clearly remember the last prolonged military conflict a Republican President lied the US into. We're getting too old for this s**t.
Speaking of politics, Ricky Gervais called for the Hollywood elite to steer clear of the topic in their acceptance speeches during this year's Golden Globes. It didn't work.
We react to the winners of the major Golden Globes categories, and spend some time pondering the awards season in general.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: A spoiler-free review.
Andrew asks us to hold his feet to the fire when setting a particular 2020 goal.
Our new year recommendations will make you feel good and get off to 2020 on the right foot! Write the narrative of your decade for yourself (Laura), 'Anne With An E' on Netflix (Pam), and Amazon's 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' season 3 (Andrew).
This episode is sponsored by Rothy's (https://www.rothys.com/MILL for your new favorite pair of shoes), ThirdLove (https://www.thirdlove.com/MILLENNIAL for 15% off your first order of the perfect bra), and UnTuckIt (https://www.untuckit.com (https://www.untuckit.com/) and use promo code MILL for 20% off your first order. And in this week's installment of After Dark, available on Patreon:
Andrew spills some tea about a certain fan site we have past connections to, and it is DE-licious.
Pam's got some scandalous drama that can only be shared on Patreon, prompting a discussion about not f*****g with crazy.
Laura shares a personal story about an idiot ex.

Would recommend to a friend

I have been following host Andrew Sims’ podcasting career since the early Mugglecast days, through Imprint and Smart Mouths and now Hype and #Millennial. This podcast is great for keeping me informed of current events, both around the world and US issues, in terms of politics, entertainment news and social issues. Listening to the hosts is like sitting with old friends discussing topics, with a great balance of humour and seriousness where appropriate. LONG MAY IT CONTINUE!!
