Episode 10: Justin Brannan
For episode 10 of Missing Words, we sat down with NYC council member Justin Brannan. Before getting involved in politics, Brannan played guitar in New York hardcore bands Most Precious Blood and Indecision. As a lifelong resident of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Brannan saw first hand the issues that his community was experiencing. This all culminated in him running for council member in the 43rd district of NYC in 2017. Brannan ended up winning the election with just over 50% of the vote. We discussed how the punk and hardcore shape his political views, staying motivated and involved in your local community, the importance of including vegetarian & vegan lifestyle changes in the Green New Deal, the therapeutic nature of Megadeth, and much more.
