Hey Love,

Remember when we couldn‘t wait to be grownups because we thought being grown meant staying up late, eating whatever we want, and doing whatever we want?
Now that we‘re heerree, we‘re realizing that there‘s more to being an adult than going to bed at 2am and having cake for breakfast. It‘s also: unpacking past trauma, having tough conversations, staying committed to doing THE WORK, all while curating a life we‘re proud of and happy to call ours.

I don‘t have all the answers, but as I learn, my goal is to share with you my experienced, and borrowed lessons on navigating the highs and lows of adulthood with the hope that each episode will inspire you to be, do, and have better!

Grab your wine, coffee, or tea, have a seat... and let‘s talk.

    SE3 | SS5: A Non-Glamourous Key to Success

    SE3 | SS5: A Non-Glamourous Key to Success

Think about someone you admire in your field of interest- someone who is at a level you aspire to be. Now think about this: imagine the number of times they had to do the same things over and over and over again until they became so good at it that it grabbed, and held, our attention. So much so that we now aspire to get to where they’re at.
In repeatedly doing the mundane, the boring, the not-so-glamourous they were able to achieve a level of success that motivates us every time we think about them.
In today's session of Note to Self Diaries, I share with you some of the lessons I'm learning about the monotonous habit known as 'repetition.'

SE3 | SS4- How Arrogance Can Ruin Our Relationships

SE3 | SS4- How Arrogance Can Ruin Our Relationships

Let's be honest, we don't easily like to be spoken to- if at all. And if we're to really, really be honest we'd even go a step further in saying that any spotlight shone on our flaws immediately warrants disconnection from the person bold enough to point out our not so nice traits.
You know what I learned recently about this kind of behaviour? It's covered in arrogance and if we're not careful, we can sabotage some really valuable relationships. Press play to hear more about how my own pride almost cost me a relationship like no other and the lessons I learned about being open to constructive criticism.

S3S3- Give Yourself the Grace to Try Again and Keep Going

S3S3- Give Yourself the Grace to Try Again and Keep Going

Lately, I've been consumed by this immense urge to "start over." I find myself going on and on, in my head, about how I've failed in a particular area and how I could have done better, when really, what I should've been doing is giving myself grace and not being afraid to pick up the ball and go again.
In today's session of Note to Self Diaries I add a bit more context to this and I also talk about how time spent beating ourselves up is simply energy being misplaced.
I hope something resonates with you.

S3S2- The Guilt of Being Blessed

S3S2- The Guilt of Being Blessed

I found myself contemplating this question recently: "Why do I feel guilty for not struggling anymore?"
It's an odd question because who wants to struggle/continue struggling? When I pondered the question further I came to the realization that when we're not used to excess, we don't know what to do with it and that often manifests itself as imposing limitations on ourselves, thinking that we're not good enough for certain things, and even subjecting ourselves to situations that clearly do not serve our higher good.
In today's session of Note to Self Diaries, I explore some of the many reasons why we tend to feel guilting for doing well and celebrating ourselves, and I also talk about ways in which we can begin to combat those feelings.
I hope today's session reaches who it was meant for and that you take what's needed.

S3S1- Say Yes to More Luxury

S3S1- Say Yes to More Luxury

New Year. New Season. Lot's more to share on NTSD!
These past few months have opened my eyes to a very important lesson: we don't have to struggle for everything we get to enjoy. It is absolutely OKAY to do and have something just because!
In today's session of Note to Self Diaries, I explore this further by sharing with you how once experience opened me up to saying "yes" to more comfort, more convenience, and more luxury. I also talk about the guilt I experienced after saying, "yes," and the decision I plan to stand by moving forward.
I hope today's session reaches who it was meant for and that you take what's needed.
Please don't be shy with the feedback; I'd love to hear your thoughts on today's topic. Can you relate? Send your comments to alicia@notetoselfdiaries.com or feel free to connect with me through my DMs on IG @notetoselfdiaries.
