Welcome to the official podcast from the Restorative Justice Council. The Council was formed in 1998 as an independent third sector membership body for the field of restorative practice and the national voice advocating the widespread use of all forms of restorative practice, including restorative justice. We primarily operate across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Our role is to set and champion clear standards for restorative practice whilst also raising the public awareness and confidence in restorative processes.

Season One - Episode Seven
Over the past six episodes we’ve learnt more about what restorative justice is and heard first hand from Gemma and Rob, their experiences of taking part in a restorative process. However, we know that access to restorative services is patchy and the opportunity to participate is not always available.
During the final episode of this season, we’ll be exploring what the future holds for restorative justice and what needs to happen to ensure that restorative justice is available to all. -
Season One - Episode Six
Once a restorative conference has been concluded it is not the end of the process. For many, participating in a restorative process is an emotional rollercoaster. It is essential that restorative practitioners provide support to both participants during this time. How this looks will of course be determined by the needs of the individuals involved.
During this episode we will be exploring what happens once the conference is concluded and will be asking Gemma and Rob, what support they were offered and how effective this was. -
Season One - Episode Five
We’ve previously discussed how Gemma and Rob were prepared to take part in a restorative conference but making sure this part of the process is safe and effective requires a great deal of planning. It is also an extremely challenging time for the participants. During this episode we’ll be finding out about some of the practicalities of organising a restorative meeting.
Gemma and Rob will also be sharing their experiences of their restorative meeting. -
Season One - Episode Four
The RJC’s Practitioner Guidance states that preparation is of paramount importance and is often highly relevant to the outcome and ultimately the success of the process. During this episode we’ll be exploring how Gemma and Rob were prepared for participating in their restorative process.
-
Season One - Episode Three
In this episode we meet two participants who have experienced participating in a restorative conference. Gemma and Rob will be explaining how they found out about restorative justice and why they decided to take part.
-
Season One - Episode Two
