S3E54 Rothrock Trail Challenge 1st Overall On The Short Course Only Eye Athletics

    • Running

Rothrock Trail Challenge 1st Overall 1:59:30.75 for the short couse.

Probably should not have went but glad i did. I was tired this morning
and it was a rough 1.5 hour drive. My chest muscles hurt, my left knee
ligaments are tweaked, no top end speed but managed to win somehow. Yes
this was the fay after winning a 50k &mm

If you dont know the course its actually probably mile by mile the
hardest race in pa. Tons of rocks and when I say tons i mean there are
so many by the end you will want to never see one again, on top of the
roots. Glad i signed up for the short course and not the long one. Id
def not had it in me. The rocks were super slick. It would have been
better to wear road shoes then trail shoes so could grip and get
traction on the rocks. I had trail shoes and mine were way too
agressive. Fell twice, one slip on a big smooth rock, other time just
flat out tripped on a rock nelieve i was running up hill at the time
pushing off hardbto start run faster. Lead the 11.5 mile whole time.
Never saw anyone else in my race. Did get passed by a few 25k people. I
had no ability to attempt to be ahead of them nor would it have been
smart to attempt to. Ran within myself and stayed calm. If i had gotten
passed id have pulled way backkkkkk. Body overall i guess feels as good
as expected just needs a few recovery days. Was right on my pace pro
plan today. I had it set for 2 hours and i came in right under it. Some
miles were alot slower and some alot faster then plan but it evened
itself out in the end. Really took my time on the downhills couldnt risk
it nor did i have the stabilzer muscles in legs to go any faster.

I signed up for this as a good complementary to Glacier Ridge yesterday.
Needed back to back hard days. It worked, but rough on body. Overall
enjoyed it. It's just a hard course amd as I say hardest step by step
that I have done in PA. So there was alot of risk vs reward today. You
can't ever really flat out run top end speed course wont allow it.
Course is marked very well so you won't get lost. I'll have the detalied
in recap up later
