Shaping Dance Culture with a Digital Company Suited Up

    • Entrepreneurship

In this episode of Suited Up, I am joined by Emily Mittelstaedt.

Emily has always had a strong passion for dance. The ability to discover, absorb, feel and share feelings through physical expression makes her curious, focussed and open. Emily is the CEO and co-founder of Dansii.com, a dance support organization and networking platform. She had professionally trained for 10 years, performing and working around Europe, before transitioning to the business side of dance. Emily has now been CEO of Dansii for two years, and is excited to be on a path of continuous growth. Outside of her day to day Dansii work, Emily works on other dance related projects and loves to spend time outside exploring and connecting with nature. A frequent point of personal research for Emily is her heritage and culture. Emily is Kanien' kehá:ka and longs to connect with her ancestors' stories, hoping to one day bring them to life through dance.

Our conversation covered everything from diversity & inclusivity in the dance world, reminiscing about our days together dancing as students at Canada's National Ballet School, and leaders in the dance world like Artistic Director Mavis Staines who supported Dansii from day one.
