Alvin Poh was 17 when he co-founded his first company, Vodien Studios, a web design firm that provided services such as graphic design, web design, web development, and web hosting services.

The company then pivoted to becoming a specialised web hosting services provider and renamed itself Vodien Internet Solutions.

The company grew rapidly over the next decade and in July 2017, Poh sold the business to Dreamscape Networks. The deal was valued at SGD30 million, with Alvin receiving close to SGD15 million.

In 2018, he created the Alvin Poh Endowed Scholarship at Singapore Management University, aimed to provide funding primarily to financially needy undergraduate students who demonstrate a combination of good academic results and student life activities.
