What NFL Tier Does Buffalo Belong In?

What NFL Tier Does Buffalo Belong In?

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran takes all 32 NFL teams, puts them all into seven tiers and focuses on which grouping the Buffalo Bills most likely belong in.
As opposed to taking each team and "power ranking" them No. 1-32, this exercise leads to seven tiers being created: Super Bowl favorites, Legit Super Bowl Contenders, Playoff Near Locks, Playoff Top Contenders, Could Surprise, Nah and 2025 No. 1 Pick Contenders. Patrick first explains why he prefers to tiers to complete numerical order--being able to place multiple teams on the same level.
From there we start at the bottom tier and work our way up. Here's a spoiler alert---- there's eight teams that are ranked at least as high as the "legit Super Bowl contenders" tier while five teams are projected to be in the mix for the top overall pick in next year's draft.
Also, the Bills are now no longer solely favored to win the AFC east, per Ceasars Sports Book. That plus some flowers to a fellow content creator on pulling Mina Kimes as a special guest and plenty more.

Erasing One Bills Offseason Move (The Podbag)

Erasing One Bills Offseason Move (The Podbag)

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo as Patrick Moran responds to several takes and questions submitted by consumers of the show, including being asked to pick a singular Buffalo Bills offseason transaction he'd most like to erase if he could.
It's been an incredibly busy and eventful offseason for Brandon Beane and the Bills since last season ended in the playoffs with a disappointing home loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills have said goodbye to several prominent veterans and have also added several new pieces via free agency and the draft. Patrick's tasked with erasing any one move he wants and while acknowledging that canceling the Stefon Diggs trade would probably be at the top of most lists, he'd like to take back Beane cutting center Mitch Morse even if he's likely nearing the end of his career.
There's plenty of other Bills related topics in this week's Podbag, including national misperceptions, biggest pre-training camp team concerns, breakout candidates and who'll lead the team in interceptions in 2024.
There's also nuggets about Bills training camp, a pair of Buffalo Sabres questions that sends Patrick down a mini-rabbit hole, favorite Buffalo summer annual event and more. If you want to be included in next week's Podbag, leave a comment on any of the full-length show videos on the Talking Buffalo YouTube channel or you can also tweet or email Patrick!

Can James Cook Rush For 1,500 Yards?

Can James Cook Rush For 1,500 Yards?

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino to discuss several topics, including the team's head scratching signing of former decorated wrestler Gabe Steveson and speculating if running back James Cook is capable of rushing for 1,500 yards.
Cook ran for 1,122 for Buffalo last year despite seemingly having a quick leash for a lot of the early part of the season. No Buffalo Bills running back has rushed for at least 1,500 yards since OJ Simpson all the way back in 1976. That said, maybe the accomplishment isn't as far fetched as it seems. Cook pretty much established himself as one of the best backs in the league last year, finishing fourth in the NFL and rushing and running for 1,500 yards isn't unprecedented in recent years. Five active backs have done a total of seven times over the past five years. The guys spend some time considering if Cook has the ability and opportunity to join that club in this 2024 Bills offense.
Also, the Bills signed former Olympic wrestler and WWE "superstar" Gabe Steveson last week. It's interesting on several levels considering Stevenson has literally never played organized football in his life. There's also former legal issues with Stevenson that makes the move a head scratcher if not straight-up controversial. The guys discuss.
That plus Emanuel Acho is on TV seeking attention at the expense of the Bills, Justin Jefferson is now incredibly rich, a new "Medal Stand" segment and much more. Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino

The Worst Contracts in Buffalo Bills History

The Worst Contracts in Buffalo Bills History

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens and today they're running down and discussing some of the worst contracts given out in franchise history.
Every team around the NFL has given out its fair share of awful contracts and Buffalo certainly is no exception. The Bills have seen many lucrative deals go astray and Joe put in the time to list together some of the absolute worst, leading to discussions that include the infamous guard/tackle big plash free acquisitions of Derrick Dockey and Langston Walker as well as quarterbacks Rob Johnson and Ryan Fitzpatrick that quickly fizzled out after receiving significant contracts.
Defensive line has seen plenty of bad deals and a handful of them are discussed as well, including Marcel Dareus, Star Lotulelei, Dwan Edwards and Larry Tripplett.
Additionally, Charles Clay was a big signing at the time but never elevated the Bills offense. That plus a few recent players being on the list, recollections of the Mario Williams chase, other nostalgia and much more. Follow Joe on Twitter @BuffaloWins.

Briana Aldridge, WKBW-TV Buffalo Sports Anchor & Reporter (LIVE From Imperial Pizza)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by WKBW-TV Buffalo sports anchor and reporter Briana Aldridge for a conversation about her life and career so far that's recorded live from Imperial Pizza from South Buffalo.
Briana has been crushing it since coming to Buffalo in 2022 to join the Channel 7 sports team. They have a conversation about what led her to coming to Western New York and if it was a difficult decision for her at the time. Despite being young and relatively new(ish) to sports broadcasting professionally, Briana's incredibly traveled and has lived in many parts of the country. She talks about being born and raised in California and also spend time in several other places either professionally or educationally---including Georgia, West Virgina, Louisiana, Nebraska and Colorado.
Among other topics discussed is some of Briana's biggest influences, cultivating personal and professional relationships amongst her peers in the Buffalo market, her views on social media, thoughts on her time so far in Buffalo and of course, a "Fun Fact Finale" to learn even more about one of the sports broadcasting media's true rising stars.
You can follow Briana on Twitter @BreeAldridge and be sure to check out the amazing works she'd doing at WKBW-TV. Big shout-out and thank you once again to Imperial Pizza for being an awesome host and of course their ridiculously good wings and pizza!

Bills Post June 1st Potential Free Agent Adds

Bills Post June 1st Potential Free Agent Adds

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, the Buffalo Bills will have at least a little more spending money freed up to potentially spend come June 1st in a few days, and Patrick Moran has a list of several potential roster addition candidates to discuss.
The Bills still don't have a lot of cap room even once they they get the money saved by cutting Tre White with a post-June 1st designation earlier this offseason, but it does at least open up the door to be a little more flexible and add an able player or two to the mix. Buffalo signed defensive end Leonard Floyd on June 6 last year and he paid huge dividend and while that expectation is definitely not there this time around, there's a few holes on the depth of this roster that could use some polishing.
Patrick focuses on three of them: offensive guard, edge rusher and cornerback and makes a case why Brandon Beane should consider adding to at least one of these position groups if not more before training camp begins. From there Patrick has a list of candidates he can make reasonable arguments as worthy roster adds, including a couple of former Buffalo Bills most fans will surely be familiar with.
That plus a discussion on a few current Bills veterans including Kaair Elam, David Edwards and Casey Toohill.
