It's been the most unusual time for all businesses but the hospitality sector in particular has been hard hit. Among the first to close when the Coronavirus pandemic struck, it is one of the last to be allowed to re-open. This Monday, June 29, sees the latest phase of the Government's plan to re-open society and business with hotels and restuarants permitted to open their doors for customers again. In the latest LaoisToday Talking Business Podcast, presenter Steven Miller is joined by Pat McDonagh, owner of Supermac's and numerous hotels around the country including The Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise. In a wide-ranging discussion he chats about how the challenges facing the hospitality sector in re-opening. And he also talks about his new Supermac's outlet which is due to open at Junction 17 at Togher outside Portlaoise. Construction had to stop during the lockdown but it's on course to be ready for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Its opening comes 25 years after he opened his first Supermac's in the town and he looks at the various challenges and changes over the years. He also talks about what he sees as the various perspectives of customers - some who can't wait to go places again and some who are a bit fearful.
