Solo artists Pt.2: Ren Marabou, Jack Penders of Rotlaust & John Murphy of For Ruin discuss going solo and the creative process they use to release their music.

I was delighted to welcome Ren Marabou, Jack Penders of Rotlaust & John Murphy of For Ruin to the show. These talented musicians have all released brilliant solo albums/eps this year and it was fascinating to hear about their creative processes during a pandemic that effectively wiped out live music for the last year. Ren has released Valhalla Waits, Jack under the guise of Rotlaust released Covenant and John released For Ruins new e.p Relapse. All of their music is different but they all share common trait of being passionate about their Metal, take a really professional approach to their music and are proud to fly the flag for Irish Metal. Here are the links to their music and thanks for listening to the show. Richie.

The Metal Cell Forums. Join myself, Danielle, Evan and Joe as we talk about the Irish Metal Scene, review bands and discuss topics related to our favourite music....METAL! This weeks show is a fairly busy one. We have a discussion about an exciting project that is slowly coming to fruition called Aiséirí - All Ireland Metal Project. Aiséirí means resurrection in Irish and it involves artists all over this great island contributing/collaborating to record one album with 15 - 20 tracks. All profits go to the charity of choice. The main topic of the night is One Hit Wonders of Metal...those bands that briefly lit up the charts, MTV playlists, Headbangers Ball, Kerrang and Metal Hammer. We review five new releases by BRUIT, Blurred Reality, Cynic Cult, For Ruin and Strangers With Guns. Hope you enjoy and please subscribe to the show if you haven't done already. Thanks Richie.

It was a pleasure to interview Jude, who is one of the most talented guitarists on this great island of ours. Acid Age play an exciting brand of Thrash/Technical Death Metal which is mixed with Jazz Fusion and a few other styles as well. The trio released a brand new album in 2021 titled "Semper Pessimus", which is a concept album based around Nero, the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Acid Age have a strong back catalog of releases dating back to their first E.P in 2013 and are really looking forward to touring "Semper Pessimus" around Ireland and further afield. My co-host Joe from Gama Bomb and Jude have shared stages together so there was plenty of stories about the Metal Scene both here and in the North. Hope you enjoy the interview and please subscribe to the channel if you enjoyed the interview. Thanks Richie.

It was a pleasure to talk to the Quinn and Farrow brothers that form the uniquely brilliant Corr Mona. The band was formed in 2009 and sing as Gaeilge. Despite the fact that both Martin and Robert Farrow are now living in Canada, they have still managed to release their brilliant new album called "Abhainn" which is Gaelic for "river". Each of the tracks has been given the title of a river in Ireland and the musical course of the album also follows that of a river. From the initial trickling spring, to the river growing in speed and weight as the body of water grows, to the final torrent that flows to the sea in peace. There is plenty of black, death and doom metal feeding into beautiful Irish melodies and time signatures to create an album that is both majestic and compelling. I hope you enjoy the interview and please subscribe to the show if you enjoyed it. Thanks Richie.

Dead Labels guitarist Mick Hynes drops in to have a chat about their new upcoming EP "Anthology" and future plans for one of Irelands most popular metal acts.

It was a pleasure to chat with Mick Hynes, guitarist with Dead Label about what the band have been doing during a year which saw them lose out on playing Wacken, Download and Resurrection Festivals due to COVID. They do have an upcoming EP to promote called "Anthology" and we have a listen to one of those tracks called "Deadweight". There's plenty of stories thrown in about skateboarding, how Mick joined the band and influences that come through in his playing. Please hit "SUBSCRIBE" if you enjoyed the show and thanks for listening. Richie.
