The Metal Cell Podcast sets out to promote the Irish Metal Scene by talking to the bands, promoters, artists and fans of this musical genre. I hope to interview as many generations as possible involved in the Irish Metal community from those who create the music, design the artwork, promote the gigs or simply fans of the music itself. It's one of the most exciting times ever to be a Metal fan in Ireland with so many home grown and international metal bands touring our cities and releasing incredible music. This Podcast has become a solid link in communicating our voices throughout the world wide Metal community. The bonds forged in the Metal Scene are strong, loyal and lasting. Friendships created that traverse oceans and continents linking us to Europe, the America's, The Far East and even into the Eastern Block. Thank you all for listening and for your support, Richie. #supportyourlocalmetalscene

Episode 80: Drought: Guitarist's Dave and Gearoid of Drought discuss their band with influences from Sludge, Death Black and Doom Metal.

I was delighted to welcome Dave and Gearoid of Drought along with Danielle of The Metal Cell Forums to have a chat about their progress so far. Drought is a collective of individuals that have been involved with bands such as Coldwar, Mortichnia, Warpath, Wound Upon Wound and Slave Zero. The lads talk about their influences across Sludge, Death, Black & Doom Metal. They have released two excellent songs so far and have another few ready by all accounts. Despite having played only one live show, they definitely have captured a lot of people’s attention in the Irish Metal Scene and are one to watch in 2020.

Episode 79: Metal has no borders: Sintax from Jerusalem, Israel.

Episode 79: Metal has no borders: Sintax from Jerusalem, Israel.

I have decided to spread the word on the Irish Metal Scene by talking to similar bands elsewhere in the world. I'm going to give them a Spotify Irish Metal playlist to listen to, compare our scene with their scene and hopefully build a relationship that might see a band from Ireland play in their country or vice a versa. The first of these interviews start with the brilliant Sintax from Jerusalem, Israel. Yehi (Vox), Chaye (Guitars) and Slava (Bass) are all veterans of the Israeli Metal Scene having toured relentlessly and are about to launch their new album Nano3000. It was a terrific time to catch them, we chat about gigs, music and discover we share a lot of the same things. The lads have got one tour of Europe under their belts and are keen to do another. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode 78: Mental Health in the Metal Community with Bailey Junior of Scapegoat TV, Tom of Zhora, Evan of Worn Out and Shane Horan, Photographer and Psychotherapist.

Episode 78: Mental Health in the Metal Community with Bailey Junior of Scapegoat TV, Tom of Zhora, Evan of Worn Out and Shane Horan, Photographer and Psychotherapist.

Bailey Junior of Scapegoat TV made a short film on mental health and suicide called Suffer. He is heavily involved in the Metal Community in Scotland and asked for assistance in making the short from friends of his who soon contributed to the soundtrack of the movie. I asked Tom of Zhora, Evan of Worn Out and Shane Horan, Photographer and Psychotherapist to come on the show to discuss Baileys film and Zhora's Demotivator. What followed was an interesting and insightful talk on mental health in our metal community. Any comments or views on this subject or if you feel there needs to be another show on this contact me.
    Thanks Richie.

Having inked a deal with Los Angeles based Prosthetic Records, the band is currently working on the follow up to 2018's critically acclaimed Speed Between The Lines. I was delighted to catch up with Philly (vox) and Joe (Bass) and enjoy their company as they chatted about tours, new music and their love of Metal!

Episode 76: The Metal Cell Forums VI. Join myself, Danielle, Evan and Jack for banter and chat about all things Metal.

Delighted to welcome back my wonderful co-hosts on this terrific episode, where we covered Restive Nation & Neon Empire single releases and our chosen subject was the unwritten rules of Heavy Metal. We did a feature on Evans pick for his band to listen to, the incredible Everytime I Die, talked vinyl and some band updates. As I said before the banter is the best out there in the Metal Scene so please convert, like and leave a positive review on whatever listening platform you are using. Many thanks Richie #supportyourlocalmetalscene.

Episode 75: Rob Halkett of The Exploited.

I was delighted to catch up with Rob as he took an enforced break from his busy touring schedule with The Exploited. Rob took the Zoom call in Kerry, where he was busy restoring an old barn in preparation for a brand new studio. It soon became clear that Rob has many interests outside of The Exploited as we chatted over a few beers. Tour stories, sport, architecture and the love of music were just some of the topics covered.
Thanks for listening and be sure to subscribe, like, share or convert more to this Podcast if you enjoyed it. Thanks Richie. #supportyoutlocalmetalscene
