    Episode #2 Who cares for our frontline staff? The Covid-19 pandemic.

    Episode #2 Who cares for our frontline staff? The Covid-19 pandemic.

    In this podcast, we’re hoping to explore a very simple question… who’s caring for our frontline staff?
    This podcast is presented by wellmedic.co.uk
    We discuss the following;
    The anxieties and stressors affecting doctors on the frontline.
    The impact of PPE, or lack of it.
    The impact that covid-19 has had on medical students in the UK.
    Why should doctors priorities self-care during and after this pandemic?

    In this episode, I’m joined by Dr Joanna Poole, an Anaesthetics trainee who has been instrumental in highlighting the struggles of junior doctors. Her passion for change fed directly into the GMC report caring for doctors.
    We’re also joined by an inspirational medical student, Khadija Owusu, she is currently studying at St Georges, London and has been highlighted as a future leader in healthcare. Khadija has been influential in speaking about the recent BMA charter on racism in medicine.
    The following passage from a BMJ editorial titled “Challenges for NHS hospitals during covid-19 epidemic.” helps place this into context.
    “The UK government says that the country is now on a war footing. Much of Europe is in lockdown, and major public events have been cancelled. It is impossible to know what the next weeks and months may bring. In this new normal, it is important for those in charge to be mindful of the strain that every healthcare worker will be under and the mental, emotional, and physical risks involved in responding to an unprecedented crisis. NHS staff are its most valuable asset and will react with energy and flexibility, but urgent consideration must also be given to supporting their health and wellbeing—for the benefit of all.”

    How did I fall out of love with medicine within 6 months of graduating?
    This is the question I repeatedly asked myself once my tech wedding startup closed in 2018.
    In our very first podcast, I am joined by my wife Dr Asia Ali as we give our individual perspectives on my unusual journey from Doctor to Doctorpreneur.
    In this podcast, we touch upon the following;
    Frustrations around the current wellbeing and wellness discussion for doctors.
    Difficulties around family planning and training. Rota problems!
    A trip to Southampton which changed my life...
    My first ever business idea - Receipt Card.
    Why did I choose to start Perfect Planner - A curated commerce platform for weddings, effectively Booking.com for weddings!
    And finally, why did we start WellMedic and how you can help it grow.
    If you’d like to help wellmedic grow, please share this with your friends and colleagues.
