Cassi Stuckman and her journey becoming a Somatic Therapist

Cassi Stuckman has been a great pal of mine for 10+ years and we are an odd pair! We met as two young yogis headed to L.A. to train under Annie Carpenter, a well-known yoga teacher. We became friends and have kept in touch over the years through yoga trainings, hikes and the love for our pups (RIP Gus and Floyd).

Cassi reviews the last two years of life transitioning from Chicago full time yogi to Colorado full time student at Naropa University.

    Polyvagal Theory

How Cassi has used what she has learned in school to helped her learn more about her own story.

    Thank you, Cassi!

    Brian McCornack and Bullet Journaling

    Brian McCornack and Bullet Journaling

We all have unique ways that our brains work. Ryder Carroll developed a unique way to journal and keep track of his days and projects that is a little outside the box. It is called The Bullet Journal Method and he wrote a book on it! In this podcast I interview a Manhattan, KS local that loves to Bullet Journal and is even on his 25th one in three years!

Brian McCornack is the Department Head of Entomology at Kansas State University, a husband, a father of three and these are only a few of the things that make up his life. In this conversation we discuss how these rolls require many details and how Brian has optimized his Bullet Journaling skills to be more Present in his life.

    * Brian's life and the things keeps track of daily

    * How he found Bullet Journaling and passed it by

    * Community, Vulnerability and growth from sharing and living with this health habit for three years now!

One of my favorite parts of Ryder Carroll's book is Mindfulness "A heightened awareness of the present"

By putting your thoughts into a space that makes sense to you can bring clarity, purpose and excitement for the future. Find what will help you become present.

    Caela Simmons Wood maintaining faith

    Caela Simmons Wood maintaining faith

This interview came from where it always comes from.... my interest in what is going on with wellness in the big and small parts of life. I can't talk for others but, for myself this last election and the one before has me questioning all patriarchal things.  Not just the patriarchy but all lessons handed down or spoon feed to us.

I once heard someone say that parents don't want their kids to go to college because they will become atheist. I didn't understand that until I slowly transitioned into one.  An atheist not a parent.

I have studied yoga for years now and found a sense of awakening within it and the internal space that it has created. Through this process I have striped away a lot of what religion was in my mind. I became a single part of the universe instead of a child of God. It happened over many years and I was not devastated by it. Just the opposite at first I was in awe of this amazing space that had potential and endless opportunity. Then I created a child of my own and I was confused (still am) on what to teach, think and believe. Research shows that a person is happier and healthier with faith. How would I rob this new creature of that? On the other hand what do I teach? Religion that is unsettling in me?

After asking Caela to be on the podcast I did some internal work and I believe my answer is not - Is there a God? But rather how big is God?
I do remember a minister once told me "as long as you are looking there is no wrong direction."  This may or may not be true but I am rolling with it.

Thank you Caela for the conversation about finding faith around religion!
