    Should you follow your passion?

    Should you follow your passion?

At some point in your career, someone might have told you that the secret to “happiness” and “success” is to follow your passion. But is that actually the case? What does it mean to follow your passion, and what happens if your passion gets in the way of that “happiness” and “success” we’re seeking? We tackle articles by Will Partin (The Outline), Olga Khazan (Atlantic), and others to help us answer the question:

    should you follow your passion?

    It's All About Aptitude

    It's All About Aptitude

Can one test really help determine what you should do with your life? Are we born with talents that can guide our path if only we discover them?

In this semi-solo episode, I detail my experience taking several aptitude tests with the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation, a scientific research non-profit dedicated to helping people discover their potential across America. Then, I receive my results from these tests (with guest host Scotty Poston) in a recorded interview with Meredith Burke Hammons, the Assistant Director of the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation branch of Atlanta and fellow Davidson alum. A big thank you to Meredith for her generosity and the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation for allowing me to record this.

Check my results out here to follow along.

    No Expectations (Part 2)

    No Expectations (Part 2)

Graham interviews my mom, Leslie. Then, we talk about our interviews, job stability in the gig economy, and John Wayne Gacy.

Editor's Note: So, the audio in second half of the episode is off (Graham reacts quickly/talks over me or I respond slowly, either perspective). Sorry about that; learning how file transfers and editing work through mistakes. Or maybe Graham will talk over me from now on, who knows.

    Songs used:

"Time Today" by Kero Kero Bonito
    "Skills" by Gang Starr
"John Wayne Gacy, Jr." by Sufjan Stevens

They are not ours, and we're not making any money off of this so please don't sue, thank you.

    No Expectations (Part 1)

    No Expectations (Part 1)

The saga begins with part 1 of a 2-part series exploring the expectations that affect us via interviewing a person that's close to each other.

We (try to) explain the concept/experiment guiding the show.

Ryan interviews one of Graham's best friends, Jody Crisp, about just graduating college, his first post-grad job, and how his roots in East Tennessee and growing up in a working class family guided and still guide his life.

    Clips used:

    Paddington 2, dir. Paul King
Magnolia, dir. by Paul Thomas Anderson (Jody's favorite film by his favorite director)

    Music used:

"Time Today" by Kero Kero Bonito
