On Tuesday evening, aspiring female basketballers from around the world gathered  New York City and around TVs, phones and radios in hope of hearing their name called out in the WNBA draft. 

Three Australians would get the call up to represent a WNBA team in 2024 and one of those was Jaz Shelly from Moe Gippsland.

Jaz has spent the last 5 years in the college system over in the USA playing basketball, and on Tuesday the dream of playing in the WNBA became real.

Ed caught up with her proud father Phil who spoke of the journey and the emotions involved when hearing his daughter would be playing in the WNBA.
