The biggest loss for the Ohio State football team in the spring window of the transfer poral was undoubtedly running back Dallan Hayden. The Buckeyes brought in a stud in Quinshon Judkins in the winter transfer window leaving Hayden as RB3 on the Ohio State depth chart for Ryan Day's offense. After the departure of RB coach Tony Alford to Michigan, it was all but certain that Hayden would leave Columbus, despite being in line to man the RB1 responsibilities in 2025. The biggest shock for many, is that Hayden elected to transfer to Colorado and play for the mighty Coach Prime in Deion Sanders. Is this a good fit for Hayden, or is he becoming part of a toxic culture in the "playing for clicks" saga surrounding the Buffaloes, who have seen many players leave the program this spring?

With last year, and potentially this year, resulting in mediocre QB play from the Buckeyes, it's crucial for Ryan Day to land a home run in this upcoming recruiting class. The Ohio State defense from last season was one of the best in recent memory. Now, after bringing back multiple starters including Denzel Burke and JT Tuimoloau, and adding an All-American safety from Alabama in Caleb Downs, the expectations for this years Buckeye defense are through the roof. In a season with several question marks regarding the QB situation, perhaps Ryan Day and Ohio State will need to have one of the best defenses in recent college football memory in order to beat Michigan, win the Big Ten conference, and make a run at a national championship.

In the era of NIL and transfer portal, we're seeing a common problem throughout the sport of college football. Players are committing to and from schools at will throughout the recruitment process and then transferring to and from schools once they are enrolled. Ohio State and coach Ryan Day are familiar with this, as Dylan Raiola de-commit to two different schools, one of them being the Buckeyes, before finally landing with Matt Rhule and Nebraska. Now, Jaden Rashada is transferring from Arizona State after he also de-committed from several schools throughout his recruiting process. Is this problem fixable?
