What's Happening in Guangzhou & Being a Black Expat in China?
The crazy thing about the 24/7 news cycle is people’s day to day horrible realities can quickly become yesterday’s news. While listening to CNN this week, I heard an update about the discrimination faced by people of African descent in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. Imani and I discuss her time in Wuhan at the outbreak of Covid19 and her experiences in China as a BlackExpat, and an American expat. His charge? Terrorism. I explore what lead Mabaso to Robben Island in the 1980s and the hope and future of South Africa that keeps him there today.
