Steelers Football - The Terrible Podcast - Episode 1389
Season 11, Episode 84 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the recent news that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is all but certain to return in 2021 for what will be his 18th NFL season.
Alex and I talk about what all has transpired with the news surrounding Roethlisberger since the Monday show, what his contract is likely to look like three weeks from now and the pros and cons of him being brought back for at least one more season.
Alex and I discuss how the Steelers should still be open to drafting a quarterback early this year if there is one they love in the first round. We also discuss what the future now possibly holds for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph past the 2021 season.
Will the Steelers extend cornerback Steven Nelson at any point during the offseason? Alex and I discuss that topic in addition to coming up with a good and fair market value for him. We also discuss what a contract extension might look like for Nelson this offseason and how much potential 2021 cap savings one might produce as a result should one get done. We also discuss when an extension might get done this offseason as well.
What direction might the Steelers go in the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft after all that has been said and done these past few weeks? Alex and I discuss a few of the positions that likely lead in probability.
We then wrap up several loose ends late in this Wednesday show before turning our attention to several questions we received from listeners of the show since our last episode was released.
Steelers Football - The Terrible Podcast - Episode 1388
Season 11, Episode 83 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get back after it again following our time together last week in Pittsburgh along with David Orochena.
Alex and I start off this episode by talking about the time we spent in Pittsburgh and specifically the field trip we all took to Canton, OH to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert talked extensively to the media last week and obviously talked quite a bit about plans for the 2021 season and more. Alex and I spend a lot of time attempting to contextualize what all Colbert had to say last week about the future status of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, draft outlook, free agents, the salary cap and much more. We covered quite a bit in this segment.
There is new speculation about what the 2021 salary cap number might ultimately be come the start of the new league year, so Alex and I spend a little time on that topic.
The Steelers reportedly recently restructured the contract of defensive lineman Cameron Heyward and so Alex and I go over that transaction and how it went just as we have speculated it would. We also discuss a few other players that might get restructured in the next three weeks.
Does Alex like Alabama quarterback Mac Jones as a potentially first-round selection this year for the Steelers? Yes, he does, if the team chooses to draft a quarterback this year. We talk about his breakdown he recently did of Jones, and I chime in with thoughts on the Alabama quarterback after watching only three games from his 2020 season Sunday night. We also talk about why Jones and trey Lance might be the only two quarterbacks the Steelers might consider drafting this year.
We then wrap up several loose ends late in this Monday show before turning our attention to several questions we received from listeners of the show since our last episode was released.

We go over cap savings, likely replacements and more.
The Houston Texans and defensive end J.J. Watt agreed to part ways on Friday and now Steelers fans are pining for him to join his brothers in Pittsburgh for the 2021 season. We go over the likelihood of the Steelers signing Watt in the coming weeks.
There’s a new update as it relates to the 2021 NFL salary cap so Alex and I are of course all over that. We talk a little about if the cap has a chance at coming in flat in 2021 if new television deals get done with the NFL in the next four weeks.
Alex has finished his draft profile of Florida quarterback Kyle Trask so we talk about what he likes and doesn’t like and if he views him worthy of a first-round selection. Alex has also looked at Clemson running back Travis Etienne so we talk some about where he should go in the draft and if the Steelers should be interested in him.
Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds has now been named the team’s most improved player in 2020 so Alex and I discuss that topic in addition to giving more thought to the team possibly picking up the fifth-year option on him this offseason.
We then wrap up several loose ends late in this Friday show before turning our attention to several questions we received from listeners of the show since Wednesday.

Steelers Football - The Terrible Podcast - Episode 1385
Season 11, Episode 80 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to recapping Super Bowl LV and if there is anything we can take away from it when it comes to the outlook for the 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers. We also talk about some key stats from the 2020 season as well.
The 2021 Hall of Fame class was announced over the weekend, so Alex and I go over that group of individuals and if the selection committee got it right this year. We also go over what Peter King did in his voting and more. With Alan Faneca and Bill Nunn now in the Hall of Fame, is Steelers quarterback Benn Roethlisberger the next member of the organization we can look forward to being placed in Canton? We discuss that topic a while.

The New Orleans Saints recently restructured the contract of quarterback Drew Brees so Alex and I spend time breaking down what happened there and how in no way it can be compared to the Steelers and what they’re likely to do with Roethlisberger in the next five weeks.
We then wrap up several loose ends late in this Monday show before turning our attention to several questions we received from listeners of the show since Friday.
