At the end of each month, I will be sharing with my apple subscribers an exclusive compilation of advice I’ve been given through various episodes with guests from the past 138 episodes. This week, I thought it would be useful to collate all of the best business advice. I have chosen to feature Ben Francis, Marcia Kilgore and Karren Brady.
Gymshark was founded by Ben at 19 years old. Ben had a vision, he had an idea and he had the passion. He wanted to create a truly iconic brand to help inspire people around the world. Ben leant into his strengths, and in this clip he advises those who want to become entrepreneurs to do the same. Leaning into those passions, along with hard work and smart work, will inevitably lead you to different opportunities.
Marcia Kilgore runs a beauty empire and is the woman behind Beauty Pie, Fit Flops, Bliss spas, Soap and Glory and Soaper Duper. Marcia became a personal trainer and started a one room studio where she provided facials and spa treatments. Within a few years she’d built a spa empire and sold it to LVMH for millions and millions of dollars. Her advice is to learn and perfect a skill, and absorb the feedback you get from it. If you are open to learning, then you are able to become successful in your business.
Culture is everything at West Ham; where Karren Brady is Vice Chairman and its one of the main assets she says has remained so important in her business. Really good culture comes from trust, being candid and supporting one another. Being candid is crucial as it allows people to have the right to say what they do and don't like about the business. Being candid also means that as leaders we have to be good listeners, and engage our employees into the discussions.
You have to believe in lifelong learning to be a good leader, and I hope these clips will help you be better prepared in business.
