    • Alternative Health

Ayurveda and Eye Treatment is a podcast on the specialty of Eye treatment in Ayurveda. The podcast aims to give insights about treatment of eye diseases in Ayurveda.

This is the first part of our podcast series on Diabetic Retinopathy. Dr Santhakumari introduces about the general concept of Ayurvedic management of diabetic retinopathy. This episode gives an introduction about ayurvedic concept of diabetic retinopathy. Dr Santhakumari explains that the diagnosis is actually the analysis of signs & symptoms, and clinical stage on the basis of ayurvedic theory of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Ayurveda is NOT depending on a single terminology such as diabetic terminology for treatment. So many factors are to be considered such as body constitution (i.e. dosha prakriti of the patient), chronicity, severity and clinical stage of the disease, dietary and habitual factors of the patient, professional and mental status of patient etc. All these factors are capable of making changes in signs and symptoms. By analyzing these signs and symptoms, the vitiated dosha, i.e. vata, pitta and kapha is found out first. After that only, treatment plan is charted out.
