Deepak Seth in conversation with Prof. Gopal Gupta and Raj Asava (moderator) about Generative AI

Deepak Seth in conversation with Prof. Gopal Gupta and Raj Asava (moderator) about Generative AI

I recently joined Dr. Gopal Gupta, professor of computer science at The University of Texas at Dallas with expertise in AI/ML in a panel about Generative AI hosted by Raj Asava as part of his WeGyan Series.

Prof. Gupta explains the emergence of generative AI, noting its reliance on large datasets and advanced computing power. He describes it as a new paradigm in AI, emphasizing example-driven search over traditional search methods. He highlights the technology's limitations, particularly its lack of reasoning and potential for errors.

I discuss the widespread integration of AI in various industries and personal life, citing examples of AI's efficiency in tasks like transcribing notes and planning trips. I predict future developments, such as large vision models, and discuss AI's role in both cyber attacks and defense. I also mention the potential for AI to improve its capabilities through self-learning methods.

The session touches on concerns about AI's reliability and misuse, like deepfakes. Both of us agree that while generative AI has significant potential,Prof. Gupta asserted that its current limitations, especially in reasoning, restrict its applications primarily to creative fields. On the other hand I foresee AI becoming more embedded in daily technology and improving in functionality for all kinds of professions but caution against overestimating its current capabilities.

In conclusion, Raj reflects on AI's role as a personal assistant and its potential for anticipatory actions based on user preferences. We look forward to further discussions on AI in future sessions.

Deepak Seth on "The Jeff Crilley Show"!

Emmy Award Winner and legendary newscaster Jeff Crilley introduces this episode of his show with

I'm kind of a technology idiot. I used ChatGPT for the first time four months ago, and it freaked me out. It was amazing! It could write a best man's toast, just like that, and other amazing things. But there's the good, there's the bad, and there's the ugly. To talk to us about that today is a global expert on AI, Deepak Seth.

Loved the opportunity to chat with Jeff Crilley about the newest "Double-Edged Sword" of technology evolution - AI.And like all other such innovations AI comes with its own sets of -Opportunities and Challenges.Fears and Cheers.Unrealistic Pessimism and Unbridled Optimism. But as always, Human Intelligence will figure out the right checks and balances. We always do.Have done it with fire, writing, printing, weaving, ........transportation, aviation.......antibiotics, dynamite.......nuclear power.......and will do so with AI too and whatever comes next. Thanks Jeff.p.s. Jeff's studio facilities and creative team are superb. Absolutely state-of-the-art.For more AI related insights and news please subscribe to my newsletter 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐀𝐈: 𝐀𝐈 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝! CXO of the Future Podcast with Gamiel Gran, COO, Mayfield Fund

CXO of the Future Podcast with Gamiel Gran, COO, Mayfield Fund

Gamiel poses some interesting questions to me:

What was your first job, and how did this impact your career today?
What is the most important leadership skill that you have learned?
What are the obstacles to driving that "vision story?"
Do you have a prediction for the changes that are happening in the industry?
What is the practical advice you are giving around disruption?
Is there a principle that you live by that you'd like to share as a takeaway?

Greatly enjoyed the opportunity to walk down memory lane and then onwards into the future covering a wide gamut of topics - leadership, innovation, generative AI, life lessons et al.

Generative AI: Past, Present and Future ; Kevin Benedict interviews Deepak Seth

Generative AI: Past, Present and Future ; Kevin Benedict interviews Deepak Seth

I am a guest on Kevin Benedict's Reimagining the Future Webatalk series. We both share our experiences learning generative AI, what we are seeing and hearing from the frontlines of enterprise adoption, and where we see the future going.

What happens when 2 Futurists (one real and the other a wannabe) get together? They try to out-predict each other so much that they end up inventing a time machine just to settle the argument! (Thanks chatgpt for the wacky humor)\

But jokes apart (no we did not invent a time machine, atleast not yet) , had a blast talking to Kevin Benedict about some serious stuff: #generativeai. We traverse quite some ground - the past (how it came about), the present (where it is now) and the future (where is it headed next) all juxtaposed in context of our personal journeys using it and figuring it out.

We talk about the value it brings as well as the perils and pitfalls. The ethics and equaity aspects, need for regulations and controls, the balance between unbridled enthusiasm and appropriate guardrails. End with a piece-de-resistance - "Human Brain augmented AI"Check it out. Love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
