DBS #103: Does Stephen King Suck At Writing Women?
We kick off the episode with some bad news. Poet Joy Sullivan was scheduled for today's episode, and she did join us on the podcast via computer, but unfortunately, we had some tech issues and couldn't record the episode.
Since we couldn't talk with Joy, we decided to discuss a topic that came to our attention recently. Some people think Stephen King is bad at writing female characters. Well, Spencer couldn't let this King slander stand. So he found a list of great female characters in Stephen King's work.
After we talk about the list, we go into some more details about this supposed fault of his. We discuss the faults of other writers and the problems with poorly written characters beyond gender.

DBS #102 A F***ing Shark!
We settle into one of the dumbest episodes to date, discussing the worst movie villain motivations. The topic isn't bad, but when we encounter the motivation for the shark from Jaws, things go off the rails.

#163: The Shapes Of Stories With Kurt Vonnegut
We kick off the episode with a quick correction from last week. After that, we discuss a lecture series by Kurt Vonnegut that features his master's thesis about the shapes of stories.
To add to what Mr. Vonnegut talked about in his lecture, we also revisit the seven kinds of stories and do our best to fit them into Vonnegut's shapes theory.

DBS #101: Controversial Neil Gaiman Book List
We open the episode with an interesting discussion about international publishing and how the differences in British versus American style guides can change an author's work.
After that, we go over a list of Neil Gaiman's "best" books and give our immature critiques on the substance of said list. We also discuss some of our favorite Neil Gaiman books and get pretty dumb while doing so.
