Is PPG the right solution to schedule imbalance? Ray Gaddis talks Union evolution

These are unprecedented times, and MLS is taking unprecedented measures to ensure all teams are measured on the same standard. That means points per game will decide playoff seeding and playoff spots. That’s good news for some, and not so good for others. Andrew, David and Charlie weigh in, celebrate another win for the Union, who are on track for their first-ever trophy now that the Supporters’ Shield is back on, then chat with veteran shirt tucker Ray Gaddis, covering the how and why of on-field presentability, the importance of voting and everything in between. Also in this show, the guys argue about MVP candidates (and Defender of the Year), declare Josef Martinez clear troll winner and give Henry Kessler his due not that there’s no Rookie of the Year award.

MLS and the Election: Who are you voting for? | The Movement, Ep 2

On this episode of The Movement, host and former MLS player Calen Carr examines the issue of voting rights in America, and travels to Pennsylvania to see how the Black Players for Change and the Philadelphia Union opened their stadium as a three-day voter service center, despite opposition. Carr speaks with players and figures across the leagues and reflects on his own political experiences as a player, all with the goal of determining one single but complicated idea: the value of a vote.
Listen and subscribe to The Movement HERE! Extratime driven by Continental will be back on Thursday to chat with Ray Gaddis of the Philadelphia Union and round up Wednesday's action.

Vela is back, and LAFC are scary again! Doop, say the Union! Johannsson to MLS?

Vela is back, and LAFC are scary again! Doop, say the Union! Johannsson to MLS?

Doop! The Union project is fully mature, and they took years of frustrations out on Toronto FC. Andrew, David, Doyle and Calen give Jim Curtin and Philadelphia their due and wonder whether a double is in the cards. A double is possible because the Supporters’ Shield is back, as the decision not to award the trophy in 2020 was reversed by the Supporters’ Shield Foundation. Doyle is, of course, a Shield truther, and he says this proves the trophy means more than it ever has before. Calen, meanwhile, is back on the Carlos Vela hype train, even if LAFC’s star still looks a half step slow. Alicia Rodriguez (SBNation) also drops by to drop some Chicharito and Guillermo Barros Schelotto takes and explain what’s going on in San Jose and Sacramento.
8:00 – Huge win for the Union! What’s it mean, and now what?

25:07 – LAFC gets Carlos Vela back and they’re back in the MLS Cup convo

1:03:04 – Nagbe? Zelarayan? Maxi? Vela? What’s the biggest return from injury?

1:07:54 – 22U22 and Aron Johannsson in the mailbag!

Oh, and Caden Clark bagged another banger! How should the Red Bulls usher the 17-year-old along? Plus, with more games postponed because of COVID-19, how might that affect playoff qualification?
