    The Health Tips Podcast is all about fitting in fitness in a busy schedule! On the Health Tips Podcast, I am always on the lookout for new ways of preventing disease, staying fit and being the best possible version of yourself.

    So I was amazed to discover a person, who has been able to literally biohack the code, and discover the secrets of living till a 100, while being completely fit.

    M L Amarnath has devised a new way of combining diet and yoga. Using his technique, it amazingly takes, only about 30 minutes a day to give you your complete dose of nutrition and exercise.

    So, Here is my interaction with Mr Amarnath, the founder of Enlight Life Science, a company based in Bangalore – who has created a unique exercise and nutrition combination!

    Dino Morea Morea was a model, now an entrepreneur, director and producer – he and made his acting debut in the TV series Captain Vyom in which he appeared as "Sonic". His movie debut was in Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi opposite Rinke Khanna. Enthusiastic about all things food and fitness – it’s the simple things in life which get him to smile!

    Amit Joshi has been a motivator and truelly lives by example – a diabetic – he still manages to get he physic others probably only dream of. He is the Owner at Metalcarvedfitness Supplements, a Life Coach, a Dreamer, a Challenge Lover, and a Positive Change Maker

    Purnima Bali is the associate creative director of a digital marketing firm. With her colored hair, and fitness obsession – she looks the part!

    And I am the radio show host, public relations and communications consultant – and someone who turns ideas viral!

    So in this lockdown I got talking to them all…and the conversation went places. Even if we couldn’t!

    The Health Tips Podcast IS about Health & Fitness. But beyond that, its about “Fitting in Fitness”. You probably know everything there is to know about being healthy : Eat Right, Sleep Right, Exercise, keep your weight in the range. And stay off depression.

    This episode comes to you, as we endure a state of lockdown in the times of the Corona. I thought it might be appropriate to bring you something on Mantras.

    For those of you who are not acquainted with the concept of Mantras – they are essentially sound vibrations. Which seem to have impact.

    The earliest mantras were composed in Vedic Sanskrit in India, and are at least 3000 years old.[6] Mantras now exist in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism

    Mantras come in many forms, including ṛc (verses from the Rigveda for example) and sāman (musical chants from the Sāmaveda for example).[3][6] They are typically melodic, mathematically structured meters, believed to be resonant with numinous qualities. At its simplest, the word ॐ (Aum, Om) serves as a mantra. In more sophisticated forms, mantras are melodic phrases with spiritual interpretations such as a human longing for truth, reality, light, immortality, peace, love, knowledge, and action

    So I bring you a talk by Swami Uttamananda in Rishikesh, one of the very learned gurus – to talk about Mantras, their origin and how to chant them. Please note – the sound may be slightly poor in certain sections – but stay till the end – its very interesting and a great learning.

    Awakening the Kundalini is something that has intrigued me for some time. Reading about it – it seems to be the holy grail for a Yoga practitioner. There are a number of people who have achieved this state and talk about a gush of energy through the spine.

    When Kundalini awakens, a person may experience deeper empathy with others, and this empathy can almost become telepathic. There is greater sensitivity, higher energy levels, sometimes psychic abilities or deep knowing, ageing can appear to slow down, creativity and charisma can increase, as can internal peace and knowing. There is a sense of being part of All that Is. The greater mysteries of life are no longer mysteries.

    So it was exciting to meet Kia Miller – a Kundalini Yoga teacher at the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh India, the home of Yoga and spirituality. Its absolutely amazing to do Yoga beside the Ganga, absorbing all the positivity!

    Eddie Stern is a yoga instructor raised in New York City. He studied Astanga Yoga, chanting, philosophy and ritual under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, from Mysore, from 1991-2009, and is the founder of the Broome Street Ganesha Temple in NYC; co-publishes Namarupa, Categories of Indian Thought, a Hindu art and philosophy magazine; and runs the Urban Yogis project that brings yoga and meditation to young adults and youth in disadvantaged and at-risk-to-violence communities in NYC, with his collaborator, Deepak Chopra. He has published several books on Pattabhi Jois and Astanga Yoga, including a translation of Pattabhi Jois’s 1960 treatise, Yoga Mala. He continues to study with Pattabhi Jois’s grandson and successor, R. Sharath Jois.
