Joe Marler used to hate people, but then he met Tom Fordyce, and a load of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and a podcast was born that changed his mind forever. It might just change your life too.

Because everyone is interesting if you ask the right questions. And this is a show about all the weird and wonderful things people do.

Together, Joe and Tom meet astronauts, teachers, marine biologists, cheesemakers, prison guards and everyone in between. Along the way, they’ve learned things that have blown their minds, heard stories that have made them laugh until it hurts, and – well, felt a whole lot better about the world around them and the people that fill it.

Come and see us at the Clapham Grand on 7th May, with guests Seann Walsh and Stephen Bailey: https://dice.fm/event/2ymoo-joe-marler-presents-things-people-did-7th-may-the-clapham-grand-london-tickets

This episode has been released early for Apple subscribers. It will be available to everyone, for free, on Wednesday. Our guest this week is Sophie, who might just have the best job in the world. She is a wildlife cinematographer, and has worked on pretty much every massive nature and David Attenborough documentary you can think of. She has filmed incredible species in their natural habitats, including lions, penguins, bears and killer whales. She has seen incredible things, but we also learn about the unglamorous sides of the job, including being stuck in a hide for 27 hours with no toilet, and having to eat frozen cucumber sandwiches whilst not getting trampled by elephants.

She tells us all about her jobs before coming a comedian, including the time she was a waitress and dropped a gravy boat on a bride, working in an ice cream van and eating all the flakes, and the time she worked as a Christmas Elf for a Mr and Mrs Claus who were father and daughter.

Is there another podcast that could make a chat about coloured bins interesting? If you're into in that sort of thing, you'll love this episode. Our guest is Phil, who has been a bin man since he was 19. He tells us about the pranks you used to be able to pull before Ring doorbells came along, the worst smelling items he's ever experienced, and about the weird things he's found in peoples rubbish. He also tells us how the rude customers he experiences, and how people still look down on bin men to this day, but without them we would be screwed. We're a fan of Phil, and you will be too.

The Show Growing Committee: Take Marler to work day, intimate waxing and the return of the gavel

The Show Growing Committee: Take Marler to work day, intimate waxing and the return of the gavel

Joe, Tom and Producer Ryan are back for another committee meeting, to discuss how we actually grow this show. It's been a positive month for the podcast, with stellar guests and upward movement in the charts... but have we got a neon sign yet? The team also go through some listener emails and applications, including an intimate wax specialist, a stunt driver who knows Boyzone, and Beyonce's wi-fi engineer.

About Librarians: The most disgusting things people do to books

About Librarians: The most disgusting things people do to books

This episode will make you fall in love with libraries, that's a fact. Our guest is Lara, who is not your stereotypical librarian, in the sense that she doesn't spend her days telling people to 'ssshhhhh' or chasing people for fines. In this episode we discuss how libraries have changed the world, what the best excuses people have given for not returning a book, and 'that' aisle that is in every library where people get up to no good. Joe also shares his knowledge on books, which is basically The Hungry Caterpillar and a made up one from 'The Mummy'.

    Classic: About Estate Agents

    Classic: About Estate Agents

Come and see us at the Clapham Grand on Tuesday 16th April: https://dice.fm/event/qlmnx-joe-marler-presents-things-people-did-16th-apr-the-clapham-grand-london-tickets?lng=en
This is a classic episode from back when we had no listeners. Today, Joe and Tom speak to an estate agent. His name is James and his worst viewing involves someone falling into a pond. He also once found a used condom on a pensioner’s sofa, and we find out that Joe sold a house with a real well, only to buy a new house with a fake well.
