The LISK (Long Island Serial Killer) investigation began in May 2010 with the disappearance of sex worker Shannan Gilbert. In the following months, Suffolk County Police uncovered human remains from nine more murders, including those of the "Gilgo 4", all sex workers whose bodies were disposed of similarly. After years of virtually no new developments, Suffolk County Police arrested Rex Heuermann in connection with the murder of at least 3 victims. DNA evidence, cellphone records and witness accounts of a Chevrolet Avalanche truck all led to police zeroing in on Heuermann. As prosecutors prepare for the upcoming trial, details and accounts of Heuermann's life and behavior continue to be uncovered.
Inspired by the New York Times best-selling book "Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery", follow the series as it’s told through previously unheard interviews with family members, friends, police officers, government officials and others whose lives were touched by the gruesome murders. Hosted by Chris Mass.

    LISK CAUGHT?

Since four bodies were initially discovered on Gilgo Beach more than a decade ago, their killer has eluded law enforcement...until now. Rex Heuermann, from Massapequa Park, Long Island, was taken into custody on July 14th in connection with the death of three sex workers. He is also the primary suspect in the death of a fourth woman and perhaps many more. Host, Chris Mass, who chronicled the gruesome case in the first two seasons of "LISK: Long Island Serial Killer" speaks with Senior Producer, Shannon McGarvey, about what how the presumed LISK was identified, what we know about him as a person and where his prosecution will go from here.

The Case Against Rex (Part 1)

The Case Against Rex (Part 1)

In order to arrest Rex Heuermann in connection with at least 3 of the murders in the "Gilgo 4" case, law enforcement officials first had to gather and analyze massive amounts of information. From gathering internet search records to comparing the location of cellphones and gathering DNA from a discarded slice of pizza, officials knew that they would need a mountain of evidence before they took Rex Heuermann into custody. Host, Chris Mass, speaks with a former homicide detective from the New York City area about what steps were most likely taken.

The Case Against Rex (Part 2)

The arrest of Rex Heuermann brought immense relief to those who knew the case and had been deeply affected by it. What does law enforcement know that they haven't shared? Blocked Investigation (Part 1)

    Blocked Investigation (Part 1)

With the arrest of Rex Heuermann, attention has been focused on why law enforcement officials didn't make an arrest earlier. Suffolk County Police were in possession of information for nearly a decade that would help identify Heuermann, but a number of officials within the department refused to facilitate the use of the leads, both internally and by the FBI. Author Gus Garcia-Roberts, author of "Jimmy The King", a book about former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke, speaks with host, Chris Mass, about how members of SCPD and the District Attorney's Office ultimately hindered the investigation.

    Blocked Investigation (Part 2)

Even after former Suffolk County Police Chief, James Burke, was gone, the investigation into the Gilgo 4 murders and others was hampered by other members of the department. Host, Chris Mass, speaks with Gus Garcia-Roberts, author of "Jimmy The King", about his research into how and why members of SCPD and the District Attorney's office prevented the use of valuable leads and other evidence from being used to track down Rex Heuermann.
