Back to school and the online risks during this busy time.
September, back to school - it's a BUSY time for parents. How much admin?!?
I hope your child(ren) has settled into their new year ok so far without too many bumps in the road.
It's no wonder online safety can take a back seat in many households due to everything else going on. BUT it's actually a time where the risks can creep up due to a number of factors.
In this episode, I'm going to talk about why this is a particularly common time for more risky behaviours happening and introduce you to my 'Back To School Online Safety Starter Kit' that will help all parents understand what those risks are, where to priorities your focus and most importantly what action to take.

AI Dating Apps! Yep they exist and children are using them - here's what you need to know.
AI, a huge topic in its own right and one that I will be talking about on a regular basis as we keep watching and learning what is happening in this world of AI.
But, recently I was made aware of something already happening in the world of AI which prompted me to record this short episode to hopefully reach as many parents as possible.
AI Dating Apps.... on your child's phone, I-pad and devices. I have had a quick look into this and wanted to share my findings, and also to say I will be looking into this further and will come back with more information once I've properly researched it, but this is too important to wait so take a listen - it's only 12 minutes and you don't want to miss this!

Year 6 Parents! This one is for you
Year 6! There are so many mixed emotions for both you and your child at this milestone time. End of year assemblies, proms, trips and memories all being made and happening. There's anxious moments, fear of the unknown, reluctance to leave the stability and routines we have had for the last 6/7 years and so much more!
It can feel like a lot is changing and for you, as a parent, once your child starts Secondary school, it can seem like they grow up 3 years in one week! One of the things that does tend to change is how children spend their time online once they start high school. New school systems to learn, homework to be done, researched and submitted online AND a sudden influx of lots of new people to meet and connect with. Peer pressure can mount around what apps or games they are using. They may become more influenced by what others are doing online and feel they need to keep up or are being left out. And whilst this is all totally normal, it also increases some of the risks online.
So, if you have a child about to take that step, or maybe they are moving to a new school in a different year, I hope this episode will help. I talk through some of the key things to watch out for as a parent, the important conversations you need to be having with your child over the summer and steps you can take before September to help your child navigate this next, exciting stage as safely and happily as possible.

Sneaky Snapchat! The AI bot who took us all by surprise!
This weeks episode is all about Snapchats new(ish) MY AI bot that landed earlier this year.
If you don't use Snapchat but your child does, you may have no idea about this new function that has landed. It's not optional, if you use Snapchat it is now a permanent feature -(unless you want to pay to block it!)
So what's the deal? and what do you need to be aware of as a parent? This episode will help you understand what it is, how it works and what the risks could be to your child if they are using it.

One of, if not THE most dangerous site that children are accessing now - This one definitely needs to be blocked!!
Episode #3 - This is a short but really important episode. Today I'm talking about a site which I feel is the most dangerous (and unknown by parents) that we know children are accessing. One where they can be on a video call with strangers, exposed to sexual content and live sexual acts, grooming and a whole host of other dangerous and inappropriate content and people no parent would want their child talking to!
All just by clicking a button to say they are 18....................
