    • Alternative Health

Ayurveda and Eye Treatment is a podcast on the specialty of Eye treatment in Ayurveda. The podcast aims to give insights about treatment of eye diseases in Ayurveda.

The first step before starting treatment of diabetic retinopathy on ayurvedic basis is a clear diagnosis on tridosha theory. This diagnosis should be done very carefully. It is possible only by an expert hand. This is because of the different clinical stages for this disease. The signs and symptoms also vary according to the clinical stages.  It also depends on many other factors such as body constitution of patient, chronicity and severity of diabetes. Professional and psychological status of the patient, work load and eye strain of the patient also play critical roles. In general, this can be divided into four stages :

1. Stage of Siro Abhishyanda where there will not be considerable ophthalmic signs and symptoms.

2. Initial stage. Here there will be very mild ophthalmic symptoms only.

Most often, both the above stages will be ignored by the patient and patient normally does not consult an ophthalmologist.

3. In third stage, typical severe ophthalmic signs and symptoms will be manifested. There will be considerable visual defects also.

4. Fourth stage is really complicated and difficult to treat.

If the case is handled in first and second stage, correctly, the third stage, can be prevented and the patient can be protected from being a diabetic retinopathy patient.
