Dr. Imre Bangha is Associate Professor of Hindi at the University of Oxford. He is Hungarian and studied Indology in Budapest. He holds a PhD in Hindi from Visva-Bharati, Shantiniketan. He has been published in English, Hindi and Hungarian. His areas of interest lie in the emergence of Hindi, including Khari Boli, as a literary dialect in various scripts; Hindi manuscript culture; Riti poetry and the continuity of classical Sanskrit aesthetics in court literature; ‘Ritimukt’ poetry in Brajbhasha; Vishnudas, Kabir, Tulsidas, Vajid, Anandghan, Thakur; Nāgarī Rekhtā compositions. Currently, he is working on a monograph on the emergence of Hindi literary tradition.

He spoke about Economics, Jainism and Family. His optimism for India's future and also a biography which he has written on his father - "The Extra-ordinary life of an Ordinary man". D. R. Mehta, Jaipur Foot; Dr. Shobha Varthaman, proud mother of Abhinandan Varthaman, a renouned surgeon in her own right and Darshan Mehta, President and CEO of Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) have been some of our esteemed speakers.

The Jain Foundation hosted a special digital event to commemorate Paryushan for the Shwetambar Jains, which was telecast live from The Adani Shantigram Jain Temple in Ahmedabad. And Das Lakshan for the Digambar Jains, the most important Jain festival in their calendar. The programmes were viewed LIVE on The Jain Foundation App which had 10000+ downloads in a span of 10 days

The celebrations consisted of darshans, bhakti aarti sessions and closed with a live temple tour for Chaitya Paripati. Pravachans were held on all days by stalwarts like Deepakbhai Bardoli, Hukumchand Bharill and Vipin Jain. This special digital event started on 15th August and went on till 1st September.

The Jain Foundation is the brain child of Ramesh Kumar Shah, Founder of RK Trust, the philanthropic arm of the RK Group. It was conceived on April 6th 2020 and co-created by Neal Shah, to bring forth the foundational values of Jainism and make them relevant to the current generation.

We believe that dialogue and discussion is a great way to build bridges between people of different cultures, attitudes, languages and religions.

Shri Arvind Panagariya highlighted the struggles of his father which he has encapsulated in his biography "The Extra-Ordinary life of an Ordinary Man". He also spoke about the benefits of migration, education and 'Satya' a key Jain principle as guiding lights in our life. Further he stressed on his optimistic view for India's future

Professor Jain highlighted that Jainism has always enhanced man's relationship with the ecology by following its principles of non-violence and non-possession. The fact that way before Covid-19, Jain monks and nuns were wearing ‘Muhapatti’ (Mask) in order not to harm microbes invisible to the naked eye and reduce violence through speech by talking less and listening more is just one example of that. Jains traditionally prefer taking up professions that do little or no harm to living beings and the environment at large. Instead of uprooting and killing the entire plant for consumption (Jameenkand/root vegetables) they prefer consuming the bi-product (fruits and vegetables). This has been their philosophy for everyday living.

Further he offers his humble opinion that the Dairy industry today, causes harm to the cow and offering flowers to god harm to plants hence alternate solutions like veganism and mindfulness could be a way to reduce violence. He also goes on to say that we must move with the times and bring the principles of Ahimsa, Aparigraha and Anekantvad to current situations to make the world a better place to live in for all living beings.
