How to Rescue America from Fascism and Polarization with Marianne Williamson | Ep 6
Author, spiritual teacher, and activist Marianne Williamson has long been a voice for both enlightenment and social justice and equality in American life. Though her campaign did not last long, she made a big splash on the Democratic debate stage back in 2020, with some exciting performances. In spite of the fact that Democrats already hold the White House, Marianne believes that the country's establishment class needs to be challenged to pull America back from the brink. She's doing so from within the Democratic Party. I wanted to speak to Marianne because on the whole, she has been a sincere voice for humanizing our politics. She tends not to trash her political opponents by name since neither party has monopoly on wisdom or character. And while she is clearly progressive, she seems as willing to reflect on the shortcomings of her own side as criticize the Republicans for theirs.
In this conversation, we talked about what it will take to rebuild goodwill between the American people, freedom of speech, the battle against the “Neo-fascist authoritarian threat” she sees as coming from some factions on the right, as well as Marianne's view on the role of religion in transcending America's divides.
