If you’ve been on the internet in 2024, you’ve more than likely seen the term “mean girl” polluting the digital space, but the people aren’t talking about Regina George! As with all terms the internet gets its hands on, the term catches fire and immediately gets overused, abused, and run into the ground. But what even is a mean girl, and how does the average person define one? And most importantly, is the “mean girl” in your eyes truly a mean girl, or does she just not f*ck with you?
Many independent, free-thinking, outspoken women, such as Rap Phenom Nicki Minaj, have been unfairly branded as “mean girls”, but why? Are the women that embody these traits truly “mean”, or is society uncomfortable with black women living in and speaking their unapologetic, raw truth? Let’s open up the burn book, shall we?
