68. On Dealing with Burnout Authentic Success

    • Self-Improvement

Burnout is something that nearly all entrepreneurs experience at some point in their journeys, and the most important thing you can do is to recognize it before it starts to take hold of your life. These are some things I’ve learned in moving through burnout, and how to prevent it.

Notes:

Burnout can be defined as a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.
It is when every time you ponder the idea of doing anything work-related your brain automatically goes “no thank you”
The most important thing is recognizing burnout before it’s happening
We are programmed to think that burnout is “good” or a sign that we’re “doing enough” or really “working hard”
Really really take a deep look at what you’re actually doing and ask yourself if you even enjoy it, because when you love what you’re doing burnout rarely shows up
If you don’t take a break, the break will take itself for you after continually ignoring signs
Reconnect with things that you LOVE to do and start to take limits off of yourself
Start piecing things back together bit by bit, let go of the illusion that it’s all going to take place in a single day because it’s not
