096. My Brain Is Rewiring Itself At Work, Air Traffic Bafoonery, Shameful Learning, And...Is Eric Jealous? New Dad City
-
- Educazione dei figli
In this episode, I dive into the whirlwind of change and challenge I’ve encountered in my new role at RDU Airport. Stepping into the bustling world of busier air traffic control, I've found myself at the center of what feels like a complete rewiring of my brain. The pace is relentless, and every day is a test of endurance and adaptability. My trainer, Buddy, a man of simple means but strict discipline, has been guiding me through this gauntlet with a long leash and a firm grip on the rulebook.
Navigating this transition hasn't been smooth sailing. Adapting to busier ATC operations has been like learning to walk again, questioning the foundations I was taught at my last facility. I’ll share a particularly humbling moment when I directed an aircraft to the incorrect runway, a mistake that unveiled a surprising method of learning: through shame. Buddy's light-hearted jest that I learn best when I'm shamed struck a chord, revealing a truth about how making mistakes - and owning them - can be a powerful motivator for growth.
And amidst the personal and professional upheaval, there's Eric. His reaction to my new work environment - where camaraderie prevails and office politics are at a minimum - hinted at an unexpected jealousy.
Tune in as I reflect on these transformative experiences, the lessons learned in the face of embarrassment, and the subtle dynamics of workplace relationships.
