8. The Crickets - The Chirping Crickets 1001 Albums Journey
-
- Musica: approfondimenti
For Episode 8, we look at The Crickets and their 1957 album, The Chirping Crickets. It was their only album to feature singer-songwriter Buddy Holly before his tragic death in a plane crash at the age of 22. This is an early 1950s classic rock n roll album that helped inspire other musicians and bands that you will be familiar with. Not only that, you'll be able to hear their influence in early English bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The Crickets were one of the first bands to feature four-piece instruments; guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and drums, that have become synonymous with modern rock bands. The Crickets consisted of Buddy Holly on lead guitar and vocals, Nikki Sullivan on rhythm guitar, Jerry Allison on drums, and Joe B. Mauldin on bass.
