Hi everyone. Welcome to the show today. We’re glad you’re here with us. Um, we’re coming to you from Cartersville, Georgia. Um, for a couple of folks, a couple of folks from coming to our cold, folks from Cumming, Georgia Christian, our esteemed radio producer is in Dawsonville. So we’re all North of Atlanta. Um, coming at you in the end we’re going to be broadcasting obviously, um, on our Atlanta station right here on am nine 20 the answer. And if you want to watch our video, um, of this radio show, I know you’re listening to us on the radio and you might be driving to home Depot or whatever you’re doing. If you could just introduce our guests, it’d be great.

Speaker 3: (01:56)Sure. So today we’ve invited the area director from the SBDC. His name is Richard Montanero. Richard has worked with me personally in helping me to grow and build my business and offered excellent advice. Um, so with that, welcome to the show, Richard, we’re so glad to have you here with us

Speaker 4: (02:14)your morning. Thanks Brandy.

Speaker 3: (02:16)Um, Richard, why don’t you kind of take it away from me and share a little bit about your background, uh, with the SBDC.

Speaker 4: (02:25)Okay, sure. Uh, first let me just tell you about the SBDC. We are part of the university of Georgia public service outreach division. So we’re funded by SBA and by UGA. So essentially by federal and state tax dollars. So the services that we provide our taxpayer paid, uh, in other words, we are in position to help small businesses and would be entrepreneurs with, uh, at no additional cost. So our clients are always a hundred

Speaker 2: (02:54)happy with the price. I joined the SBDC in

Speaker 4: (03:00)2013 after a career in investment banking, uh, working with private equity companies running, running fairly large, uh, companies with international divisions. So I brought kind of a unique background to the SBDC, uh, but all of our consultants, and we have, uh, more than 40 consultants statewide have similar backgrounds from the private sector. Uh, we are not academics. Uh, we’re all folks who’ve come out of the business community who’ve been there, done that. And so hopefully our advice and counseling has that sort of flavor to it, you know, and, and there’s, uh, and we tend to have more credibility with our clients as a result of that because we have been in their, in t

Your Financial Remedy for the Coronavirus Panic

Your Financial Remedy for the Coronavirus Panic

This week, Ford and Brandy share their financial remedy for the Coronavirus panic. They talk about ways to protect your assets and grow your wealth during volatile times such as these.

Segment 1: Ford and Brandy give a market update and talk about Super Tuesday results.

Announcer: (00:02)Welcome to The Active Wealth Show with your hosts, Ford Stokes and Brandy Seats. They’re fiduciaries who will help protect and grow your money. Ford and Brandy will teach you how to invest and retire successfully so that your hard-earned assets are protected. Investment advisory services offered through Brookstone Capital Management, LLC, BCM, a registered investment advisor. BCM and Active Wealth Management are independent of each other. Insurance products and services are not offered through BCM but are offered and sold through individually licensed and appointed agents. Investments are all risks, and unless otherwise stated, are not guaranteed. Past performance cannot be used as an indicator to determine future results. Now here are your hosts, Ford Stokes and Brandy Seats.

Ford Stokes: (00:42)And welcome to The Active Wealth Show, Activators. I’m Ford Stokes, your chief financial advisor. I’m here with Brandy Seats, the asset.

Brandy Seats: (00:48)Good afternoon, Activators. Glad to have you with us today.

Ford Stokes: (00:52)We’re fiduciaries. We’re held to a fiduciary standard on our financial plans. Obviously the fiduciary standard doesn’t apply to our insurance side of the business when we’re working with clients with annuities or indexed universal life insurance. And we’ve also got Sierra with us. She’s going to share a little interesting different trivia this time around. With all the, you know, concern out there with the markets and all this stuff, we figured we would walk you down memory lane to, kind of, what your grandparents and your great grandparents went through. But, we’ll kind of cover all that trivia segments two through four and kind of share what life was like a little bit during The Great Depression, just so at least people can understand what people, how resilient they were and how we need to be resilient. Obviously, in the news and in the market news, two big things this past week. Coronavirus and again, we had a big uplift on Monday, but then the markets came back down a little bit, I mean quite a bit on Tuesday and also throughout the week a little bit. And we’ve got the other one, the other thing, that kind of happened this week was Super Tuesday. Did anybody notice that it was Super Tuesday this week?

    Brandy Seats: (02:03)No way.

    Ford Stokes: (02:06)Yeah, it was.

    Brandy Seats: (02:07)Really?

Ford Stokes: (02:07)It was. And, believe it or not, you know, stocks kind of went back up on Wednesday morning because Bernie Sanders didn’t win. Because everybody’s like, yeah, we don’t want that socialism thing. And so Biden kind of had a really big deal. What’s interesting is Biden won a whole bunch of southern States and he actually won Massachusetts as well, but he won a bunch of southern States that I think he has like zero chance at winning in the general.

Brandy Seats: (02:35)That is quite surprising.

Ford Stokes: (02:37)Yup, and then the one other big news, and Christian, I want you to kind of in here on this one, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, not necessarily America’s mayor. He was the guy that had three terms as mayor of New York after America’s mayor, which is Rudy Giuliani who really fixed in New York in my opinion. I’ve met Rudy and he’s a great guy. He’s just a huge Patriot. He’s awesome. Michael Bloomberg, after spending what is rumored to be over $700 million and 18 delegates later, he has suspended his campaign.

Christian Dooley: (03:11)All that money wasted.

Ford Stokes: (03:13)Yeah. Brandy, what did you say? What did you say that h

Smart Plan = Smart Safe + Smart Risk

On this week’s episode, Ford and Brandy discuss using a smart safe plan to protect your money from the stock market volatility caused by the Coronavirus. Ford and Brandy also talked with Myles Smith, a retirement transition coach, about the importance of preparation for all aspects of retirement, not just financial.

Segment 1: Ford and Brandy talk with Myles Smith, a retirement transition coach, about the importance of preparing all aspects of your life, not just financial, for retirement.

Ford Stokes: (00:01)If you’re looking to build a successful retirement, then I encourage you to listen to The Active Wealth Show right here on AM 920 The Answer, 12 noon to 1:00 PM, every Saturday. We’re fiduciaries. We place your interests ahead of our own.

Ford Stokes: (00:54)And welcome The Active Wealth Show, Activators. I’m Ford Stokes, your chief financial advisor. I’m here with Brandy Seats, the asset.

Brandy Seats: (01:04)Happy Saturday, everyone. Activators, it’s good to be here with you.

Ford Stokes: (01:08)Absolutely. Merry Saturday. So, as you’re driving around, you’ve probably seen a little bit of volatility in the markets. We’re going to try to help you a little bit through all of that today. We’re also going to, we’ve got a special guest that Brandy’s going to introduce to you and we’re going to talk through anything we can do to help you through – to and through retirement today. Brandy, go ahead and introduce your guest you brought with you, today.

Brandy Seats: (01:32)So today we have a special guest. His name is Myles Smith. He is a retirement transition specialist and he helps individuals that are planning for retirement to prepare their entire lifestyle for retirement, not just the financial aspect, but everything else that goes into that major transition in life. So I’m gonna just jump right into it. Myles, why don’t you share with us, kind of, the number one things that you go over with new clients about the full meaning of retirement and how they can approach that in the most successful way.

Myles Smith: (02:12)Thank you, Brandy, and thank you, Ford, for having me here. The first thing about retirement is that it is the unlimited opportunity of your life, basically. What I mean by that is you’ve been working through various different things in your life, having a career. Once you retire from that career, you can use all of what you’ve learned, the wealth of knowledge, expertise and insight to start a new career, to go back and rejuvenate the one that you’ve got. Reinvent yourself.

Ford Stokes: (02:50)We talk a lot about, at our seminars, in our webinars, we talk about having a vision for retirement like, “What are you doing? Who are you with? Who are you benefiting?” And really making that mark on, you know, on your retirement and one thing, Myles, I mean, you’re not a licensed financial advisor. You’re there, you’re not an insurance agent. You’re there to help folks with the actual transition, correct?

Myles Smith: (03:15)Correct. What I tel

Protect Your Wealth and Grow Your Assets

Ford Stokes and Chris Seats with Active Wealth take CoronaVirus Market Volatility Head-On with sound retirement planning strategy.

On this episode, Ford talks with Chris Seats, head of the Retirement Income Division and the Safe Money Team. They talk about how to protect your wealth during the market volatility caused by the Coronavirus.

Segment 1: Ford and Chris give a short market update and talk briefly about MYGAs and Bank CDs.

Now here are your hosts, Ford Stokes and Brandy Seats.

Ford Stokes: (00:39)And welcome to The Active Wealth Show, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Ford Stokes, your chief financial advisor and Brandy’s out today. She’s out running around, but she’s still there ready to take care of all of your retirement needs and college planning needs, for sure. We’ve got a special show today. Obviously, there’s been a lot of concern about the Coronavirus. There’s been a lot of news out there and it is interesting, you know, that’s why the markets really involve everything. That’s why markets are truly efficient and you know, I’ve spent more time playing somebody that works at the CDC because I’ve actually got clients who work at the CDC talking with my clients, than I have talking about P ratios and expense ratios and standard deviations and average rates of return this week, or actually the last couple of weeks because of the Coronavirus and what’s going on with the supply chain out there. And I just felt like it was really important to bring in this important guest with us today. His name is Chris Seats. He’s in charge of our retirement income division and also all of our safe money team as well. Welcome to the show Chris.

Chris Seats: (01:49)Thank you, Ford. Thank you for having me. It’s an honor.

Ford Stokes: (01:52)Absolutely. We’re just thrilled to have you here. What we’re going to do today over the next four segments, we’re going to have Sierra on talking about trivia a little bit too, because we always want to still have some fun on this show, but we felt like it was really important to talk through what’s going on with the markets, also what to do about it. We’ve had lots of folks calling our office. They’re really excited that their portfolios have not lost the same kind of value that they would have had they been in a 401k that’s just kind of passively being managed. But if you’re driving around right now in Atlanta, say you’re heading to Home Depot, if you’ve got some time, maybe you’re heading to Bed Bath and Beyond. I like old school, right? Chris got a good laugh out of that one. If you’re driving around and you’re trying to say, “Hey, you know what? I called my advisor, he said just hang in there. That’s all he said.” And then I would ask, you know, why are you staying with that advisor? I would encourage you to give our office a call at (770) 685-1777, again (770) 685-1777. Deborah and Diana are ready to take your calls today or you can click the “Set An Appointment” button in the upper right corner of activewealth.com or activewealthshow.com and you c

Announcer: (00:02)Welcome to The Active Wealth Show with your host and chief financial advisor, Ford Stokes. Ford is the founder and CEO of Active Wealth Management. Ford Stokes: (00:43)And welcome to the show, Activators. I’m Ford Stokes, your chief financial advisor. I’m here with Brandy Seats, the asset.

    Brandy Seats: (00:50)Hey everybody.

Ford Stokes: (00:51)What’s up Brandy? How are ya?

    (00:53)Glad to be here.

Ford Stokes: (00:53)We’ve also got our esteemed executive producer, Christian Dooley with us today.

Christian Dooley: (00:59)I still need to add you on there, Brandy.

Brandy Seats: (01:01)Yeah, add me on the end.

Christian Dooley: (01:03)I’ll eventually get to it.

    Brandy Seats: (01:05)Thanks.

Ford Stokes: (01:05)Honestly, Brandy, we have added you to the show, so you’re here, so we’ll actually try to add you to the entire show. So that’ll be great.

Brandy Seats: (01:14)I would appreciate that.

Ford Stokes: (01:15)So we’ve got a really action-packed show today. We’ve got, Brandy’s got a special guest. I’ll let her introduce him here in a second. We’re going to launch our new small business spotlight, what we call our small biz spotlight, kind of an homage to Biz 1190 that is no longer, and kind of a way to shout out to Abhi Golhar and the Abhi Golhar Show, who’s been on our show. We’re trying to focus in and give a spotlight to small business owners who do a great job from a customer service perspective, but also help pre-retirees and retirees reduce their costs in retirement just with their lifestyle and just living here and kind of in the Atlanta area. And if you’re driving around in the Atlanta area or listen to us on activewealthshow.com or on our podcast, we hope you find this great value today. Cause I think we’re going to address one of the biggest expense items during retirement, which is your auto maintenance expense and also just buying an auto and all that kind of stuff. Just how much does it cost to deal with a vehicle or vehicles. We’re going to go over, after this interview, we’re going to go over, kind of, market update, what’s going on.

Ford Stokes: (02:26)We’ve seen a lot of market volatility in the last week with the Coronavirus rumors and outbreak. And for all intents and purposes, it looks like it is a problem in China. We’ve got to make sure that we’re doing a great job at protecting our assets and having some downside protection and actively manage portfolios. A great way to do that, don’t just do the buy and hold and just hang in there. But with that, I want to kind of get started. Brandy, i’ll throw it out to you and let you introduce our guest f
