Say, Say, Say Carrah

You ever see a wonderful painting and you felt as if your heart would explode? You ever think, even for a moment, that the artist painted that picture for you? No. So, why is it that I put all the weight and expectation on myself to help others through my writing? I haven't been helping because I haven't been writing. I've not wanted to write--not because I don't want to help others. I am not writing because to write with the obligation of having my writing help others is too much. That is why, like all other artists everywhere, I am getting back to the process of "I'm not doing this for you." After all, if I don't believe in what I'm saying, if I'm not passionate about it, if I don't like it, then why am I doing it? Well, I'm doing it for people to like me. And that is not a sustainable reason. That's why I've all but stopped creating--I started creating for others, and I lost myself in the process. 



But now, thankfully, I no longer feel the obligation of making stuff for you. I'm making it for my joy. If things go the way I hypothesize, my authentic joy may resonate authentically to someone one day.
