A couple of planes crashed when pilots raised the landing gear instead of the flaps. A midair collision left tire tracks on the wing of a plane. Misfueling Accidents: What You Need to Know to Avoid Them + GA News
Max talks about the different ways your aircraft can get misfueled, and the steps you should take every time you get fuel, to ensure you don’t get misfueled. A Baron 58P that recently crashed at Palo Alto airport, appears to have been misfueled. Sumping the fuel doesn’t guarantee you’ll catch a misfuelling. Also a 50/50 mix of 100LL and Jet looks the same as 100LL.
My Neighbor Clancy Prevost, 9/11 CFI Hero and Speaking Up + GA News
Max talks about his neighbor Clancy Prevost, the CFI who spoke up about Zacarias Moussaoui, the 20th 9/11 hijacker. Clancy was a former Northwest Captain who was giving Moussaoui ground school on operating the 747-400. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until Clancy asked him one question, and the change in the tone of Moussaoui’s voice led Clancy to push his superiors to call the FBI.
Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts: Aerobridge and GA Pilots Helping
Max talks with Trevor Norman, Aerobridge’s National Chapter Coordinator, about Hurricane Ida relief efforts about the need for donations and airplanes to fly supplies. In Louisiana, nearly 1,000,000 people are without electricity. Many communities remain without access to drinking water, food, gasoline, and basic needs, while temperatures remain in excess of 100 degrees. The need is great.
