“We are a commercial real estate firm specializing in really helping people to invest in commercial real estate. “The website is key and needs to be updated so that you stand out. It is interesting to find out the different ways of business. I'm very involved on social media on all of them. LinkedIn has brought me a wealth of business opportunities, and having google ranking is important.”

How has the pandemic affected your Business? 9:10

“Since we specialize in retail and restaurants, we're now just opened up 75%. It's definitely had a big impact, but I always feel like there are opportunities like finding a lot more tenants are requiring drive-throughs or how these retailers are having to be innovative.

A Tool that your company use every day

Sheila Mac, a best-selling author, host of the Sheila Mac Show and currently works on leading courses in consulting businesses

Sheila Mac, a best-selling author, host of the Sheila Mac Show and currently works on leading courses in consulting businesses

In this episode, we’ll be talking to Sheila Mac, a best-selling author, host of the Sheila Mac Show and currently works on leading courses in consulting businesses on rebuilding, reinventing and rebooting. Her book, “Bootstraps & Bra Straps - The Formula to go from Rock Bottom and Back into Action in any Situation!” is a resource for those who need the guidance and assistance to take their life back into their own hands.

For over 25 years Sheila has been a leader at helping people to breakthrough using the Boots Formula© and take their lives to another level through solid lifestyle consulting, and accountability programs.

Losing everything and why she wrote a book

    00:40

“In 2017, I lost my home to a fire. And right now in California, that's where I'm originally from, there is more fires going on. And so that caused me to write the Boot Straps and Bra Straps, the formula to go from rock bottom back into action in any situation, because I wanted people to have an action plan steps they can take to rebuild after something happens in their life, whether it be a fire, or this year surprise with the pandemic going on. And so that's why I wrote that book to really help people so that they're not alone during these very interesting times.”

    Developing her online courses

    02:45

“I started teaching online courses, and consulting other small business owners on how to actually build an investment while they're running their business. And so that I got into that, and real estate training other real estate people how to invest, and lots of fun there. And then consulting, I traveled the world and did lots of training with Tony Robbins and different groups like that, doing the leadership training program, Platinum program. And so I got to learn more as time went on about how to help other people get back on track and reboot. And so that is my specialty, and something that I love to do every day.”

    Boots Formula

    03:50

“I wrote down a formula once my house burned down, and I had to reboot and start over again, I sat down and I said, what were the steps I took, and I put it into a formula called the BOOTS formula.”

    Sheila’s Advice

    10:49

“when we're giving our best and, and show our intention, people feel the intention before anything else. They don't even care about anything else, when they know it's a heart based business when they know that your intention is to help your clients and do the right thing.”

Joya Dass, television anchor, public speaker, co-founder of LadyDrinks, and executive director of South Asian International Film Festival.

Joya Dass, television anchor, public speaker, co-founder of LadyDrinks, and executive director of South Asian International Film Festival.

For today’s episode, we have Joya Dass, television anchor, public speaker, co-founder of LadyDrinks, and executive director of South Asian International Film Festival. She has been interviewing Fortune 500 CEOs for 15 years and is working to inspire women entrepreneurs in South Asia to conquer cultural challenges and help them understand their specific personal and business needs.

Her signature programs are known to contain salon-style and "out of the box" events. Part of her company is committed to encouraging clients to strengthen their audience's expertise as part of their growth of leadership.

    Episode Timeline:

Joya’s experience and realizations to finding Lady Drinks

    0:39

"I have cut my teeth for the last 20 years as a television anchor here in New York City. I was one of the gals stationed on the stock exchange floor and needed hourly updates on how the markets were doing. But at the 10-year mark of my career, I realized that I had largely forged this career completely on my own because I had Indian immigrant parents that didn't know how to emotionally or financially support a girl at a very young age.”

    1:17

"At the 10th year mark of my career, I probably wasn't the only Indian girl that had the odds stacked against her this way. What if I started to build support systems for other women and do it by leveraging my journalism? So, I took the dynamic of interviewing CEOs, thought leaders, and business Titans out from behind the TV screen and moved it in front of a live audience. I curated the audience as well. I made sure that it was women who are like-minded or executives who are founders."

    1:56

“That was 2012 when I first started hosting my events for Lady Drinks, and now I've left television to run this full time.”

What is Joya’s most helpful business advice?

    5:57

"Focus is always going to Trump talent. If you don't have focus, it's going to be really hard to prove to make excellent things out of that."

    Joya’s go to project software

    10:57

"Trello is a project management tool. It's something that I am increasingly adapting, and my members are adapting to if they have a team. There are that transparency level and that accountability that happens because of that project management software."

    Connecting online

    11:22

“You can always text 44222, and all you got to do is text my name, Joya Dass. That is a way that you and I can stay connected, or you can go to LadyDrinks.com.”

“My website and social media are something that is of extreme importance. Especially with the pandemic, everything is now virtual. Meeting the clients, visitors and you want them to engage on the images and be inspired from it. The consistency of social media is crucial too. You need to be consistent across the board and your website should mirror your social media platforms.”

Advice for Business Owners working at home 07:05

“I liked to provide experience to my clients through a zoom meeting, a phone call, or a content conversation that would make them feel connected to the service that I am providing. I want to engage myself to my clients more specially with the pandemic at this point in time. I always go with the factor to like, know and trust someone. Although it can be trial and error, I feel like when you engaged yourself to them, it is a win.”

    09:25

“It’s definitely based on creating your own oasis. I believe that your stress depends on the energy you fed into it. You want to feel the look and comfort in your oasis despite of the chaos that surrounds you. And this is something that Rathell designs is heading towards. Creating a mood and vide that feels like a vacation or a getaway, right at your home.”

What did you learn during the development of your company? 11:12

“I learned to take a step back and not overwork myself and avoid putting too much thought into mundane trivialities. The pandemic alone already gave us a huge delay and it is something that gave everyone a reality check. I can say that my company is fortunate and we never forget what is going on around us.”

What is one thing that you purchase during Quarantine that you are thankful for?

    13:49

“One thing that I am thankful for is the newest venture of our company, in Home Décor Line. It is an opportunity that I invested myself in and have been always wanted to do aside from Interior Designing. It is a new adventure and I am very fortunate to be able to provide that to the people.”

What tool does the people in your company, use every day?

    14:47

“We are using HubSpot and it allowed us to connect and engage with our clients. It is something that we use in a daily basis and also used to monitor our previous, ongoing and future projects. It is a great tool, its efficient and it keeps everything in line.”
