Chappell // Chats: Coronavirus (COVID-19) & How It's Impacting The Newsroom Chappell // Chats

    • Economia

On this episode, we dive into how COVID-19 is impacting the local news industry and the people behind the camera, who work to bring us updates on an hourly basis. We sit down with former newsroom colleague, Rickey Randle of Spectrum News, and hear how journalists are fairing during these trying times.

Rickey is a seasoned veteran in the news industry and currently works as a Technical Director on the morning newscast.

For those of you who may not know, Johnny and Ian both worked together at Spectrum News (formerly News 14 Carolina). From covering hurricanes, deadly tornadoes, mass shootings, and more, we compare that coverage to the unprecedented situation that's rapidly unfolding in front of us all.

Important to note, we pre-recorded all of our Chappell // Chats at a time when it was safe to do so. Since filming, Wake County, the City of Raleigh, and the Governor have issued stay-at-home orders and we will continue to abide by current rules.

Today's episode is brought to you by our unofficial local sponsors (basically just local stuff we really like), Happy + Hale and Trophy Brewing Co. Fun fact about H+H. They're actually providing free meals to local emergency responders and healthcare workers who are aiding in the fight against COVID-19. For just $5, you can purchase a "Kindness Bowl" on their website and help feed relief workers during this crisis. Go check it out.

Also, please be sure to like, comment, share and subscribe. If you would like to submit swag and be an unofficial, or official, sponsor - simply shoot us an email at hello@chappellres.com and we'll make it happen. It's completely free. If you'd like us to cover certain topics, or if you wish to be on the show, or know someone else who would like to, shoot us a message or drop a comment below!

The podcast version is also available on Apple Podcasts. Video versions are available on our YouTube and Facebook.
