    Did Drake Invent the Rapper-Sanger?

    Did Drake Invent the Rapper-Sanger?

    SUMMARY
In this episode, after a long hiatus, we decided to tackle a New York Times article about Drake. The article is titled "Rappers Are Singers Now. Thank Drake" and written by Jon Caramanica. It got a LOT of attention in multiple hip hop circles due to the audacity of the statement. We had no choice but to talk about this. We dive into the article and ask does the author make a good pernt? We ask what other artists were signing before Drake? And we also consider what the next decade might bring us.

Carter 1 Through Carter 5 (and 500 Degreez)

    Summary

So Weezy F is about to drop his long-awaited Carter V album and the world of hip hop is reacting... including HipHopDX writer Scott Glaysher. He wrote a piece titled The Evolution Of Lil Wayne's "Carter" Series. That's what we're talking about in this episode (for the most part). We might or might not have gotten off on a few tangents. Shouts to EJ for joining the discussion.

    Shouts

    An Unedited Conversation

    An Unedited Conversation

    Summary
In this episode, we invited EJ (the Sophisticated Savage) to come rock with us. We had a whole hip hop topic laid out and ret'tahgo for that ass, but that didn't pan out.

If you're a podcaster, you know there are times when you invite a guest over and y'all end up talking about all types of shit BEFORE you turn on the mic? Well that's what happened here. The conversation was soo good we just turned on the mics and kept going. In other words, "F* it, we'll do it live"!

Anyway, this episode is on some different shiz. Let us know if you like it.
Also, don't worry, our normal hip hop episode is coming later this month.

Sorry for the delay as well.

    Chune in!

As An Artist Matures, Should Their Content As Well?: JUL 2018 Show

As An Artist Matures, Should Their Content As Well?: JUL 2018 Show

    SUMMARY
In this dope ass episode of the show, we're talmbout mature bars. As an artist matures, should their content mature with them? Or should they keep giving the people the original work their fans came to love them for?

    SHOUTS
Inkquisitive - Therm shouted this account because he loves IG hip hop art.

The Tea Factor - Rose shouted this account out because he said before man touch road, they must drink a tea.

Trapnveggies - Rose shouted them because it's a vegan page that's also doing clothing (even though he fell off the vegan wagon and was eating Popeye's right before the show started).

Rexbespokeclothing - J-Boss shouted the company that is ran by his bruv and friend of the show, Collie. Hit them up for dope ass, custom made suits.

Spex of Time - J-Boss shouted Spex out because they got fire vintage frames and now some exclusive hats. Hit them up to see what's goodington. It's summertime.

    MAIN TOPIC
Nicki Minaj went all the way off in a woman's DM for giving her opinion on her music. The main pernt of her critique was to say that Nicki is getting older, but her music isn't. We centered the show around this. Was the woman correct? Also, is this critique only reserved for women in the game? And what about the fans? Will the fans even be receptive if the artist decides to switch it up?

    EXTENDED CLIP
After the main topic, Big Yerms had one more thing he wanted to ask. What other rappers have actually transitioned out of rap confortably? Maybe these artists couldn't mature their bars or didn't feel the need to, so they pivoted into something else.
